Desciption - We took a decadent Honey Wheat Wine and placed it into a woodford reserve bourbon barrel 4 months ago. Tipping the abv scales at 12%, Wood Ya Honey is a a beer to be savored. Flavors of caramel, honey, vanilla, wood, and bourbon intermingle creating a crimson colored delight.

22oz bottle, shared with brew3crew. 2010 vintage, 5 / 270. Totally hazy hazy dark brown / red color. Chunky particles in the body. Minimal khaki head, dots of lace. Medium to bigger body. Very dry texture. Very light carbonation. Light sweet taste. Pretty boozy. Alcohol head in the finish. Light floral aroma, honey. Wheat, caramel malt base. Bourbon barrel influence lends nice wood notes, and vanilla. While cold, it was harsh. But as it warmed and moved, this got way better. Nice.

Bottle. Murky brown pour with an off white head. Wonderful caramel and honey aromas. The bourbon is taking over. Undercurrents of smooth caramel malts and honey. Like everything from Jackie-Os, the body is thin and watery.

22oz bottle, #74/180, from the 2011 release. pours a hazy copper with hints of garnet around the edges capped by a razor thin, pale beige head that leaves just a trace of lace around the edges. aroma is excellent with heavy notes of caramel sauce, honey, sweet breads, vanilla nougat, and wet wood backed by dark fruits, spices, bourbon, and an interesting note of floral sweetness. flavor is delicious, but surprisingly a bit tart, with heavy dark, vinous notes, black cherries, and fresh figs up front backed by sweet toffee, vanilla, honey, and mellow, woody bourbon. palate is medium bodied, probably lightented a bit by the tart notes, with light carbonation and a lingering finish of dark fruits, caramel, and bourbon. overall, a damn tasty barleywine whether it was supposed to be tart or not.

Pours unclear murky brown with a decent amount of sediment and tan head. The aroma brings sweet malty notes with light toffee, strong. The flavor is similar, sweet, light toffee and a decent body, not too thick or syrupy, but the birch comes in pretty potently with light honey notes.

22 oz. bottle from Puddintane- thanks again, Dave! 2010 release, bottle 200/276. Pours a deep, not quite clear amber-mahogany color with no head. Looks exactly like the Cherry WYH. Aroma of honey, dark fruits, brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, and oak. Flavor of brown sugar, caramel, plum, oak, earth, chocolate, and honey. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, chewy mouthfeel that finishes dry. Nice barley wine; the honey is a very nice touch.
