Desciption - We took a decadent Honey Wheat Wine and placed it into a woodford reserve bourbon barrel 4 months ago. Tipping the abv scales at 12%, Wood Ya Honey is a a beer to be savored. Flavors of caramel, honey, vanilla, wood, and bourbon intermingle creating a crimson colored delight.

Growler at DLD 2009: Mahogany hued with a solid lasting head. The aroma has notes of smoked meat, bourbon, wheat husks, caramel, tobacco, and all spice. The taste is twangy lactic fruits of a layer of malty and spicy tones. A hint of sour milk and mineral water upon the finish is a major turn off. The mouth feel is lively and dry. Good up to the aftertaste then it falls flat on its face.

Sampled from roving 64-oz growler during Dark Lord Day 09. Pours a semi-clear dark brown colored barleywine with a thin off-white head that dissipates to a film top. Aroma of bourbon and vanilla, a touch of raisin, and buckwheat honey. Taste is full bodied, smooth, with flavors of bourbon, raisin, brown sugar, toffee and vanilla. Finish has a semi-sweet honey and caramel aftertaste that is highlighted with a mild bourbon flavor. One of the better barley wines at DLD 09.

Growler from bgurdman - Pours brown, and still got some small tan head...aroma is straight bourbon barrel...vanilla, oak and boubon, terrific...flavour was similarly dominated by the barrel, honey and booze...finish was a bit of tart oak that kinda brought this one down a peg, but still a great treat!

Shared by Brad via bgburdman at DLD. This was a real treat. The pour was a deep brown with little head. The aroma was lots of vanilla, bourbon, honey and caramel--complex and intriguing. Thick mouthfeel with a great sticky aspect to it. The taste is sweet, sticky bourbon, with a great amount of caramel creme and slight bit of honey. This is an amazing brew!

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2009 growler shared by miketd/brad/bgburdman and crew. thanks fellas!.... poured a lighter shade of amber brownwith a decent off-white head...sweet brandy-esque and honey vapors with vanilla and toffee to go along with it.....flavors remain consistent but the finish added a sour aspect to it which i wasnt expecting. not sure if i liked it or what but it was surprise nonetheless. light carbonation and medium bodied. pretty nice.

Growler at DLD. Beautiful plummy-amber pour with a well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up deep aged caramel and heather honey with soft spices and vanilla.. balance was excellent! The flavor found deep caramel and honey at the core with sour oaky and fruity character throughout.. warm sugary backing with a pinch of residual honey at the finish. Heavier-bodied and rather thick on the palate, again with great balance. Loved it!

Growler, thanks to WeeHeavySD for sharing! Pours a hazy brownish-red with a bubbly white ring. Huge sweet aroma, of malt, honey, dark fruits, wood. Big taste, of malt, bourbon, honey, dark fruits, wood, and wheat. Hides the alcohol well. Lingering big sweet bourbon-honey flavors. Very strange, but kind of awesome.
