COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Desciption - We took a decadent Honey Wheat Wine and placed it into a woodford reserve bourbon barrel 4 months ago. Tipping the abv scales at 12%, Wood Ya Honey is a a beer to be savored. Flavors of caramel, honey, vanilla, wood, and bourbon intermingle creating a crimson colored delight.

Shared by Brad via bgburdman at DLD. This was a real treat. The pour was a deep brown with little head. The aroma was lots of vanilla, bourbon, honey and caramel--complex and intriguing. Thick mouthfeel with a great sticky aspect to it. The taste is sweet, sticky bourbon, with a great amount of caramel creme and slight bit of honey. This is an amazing brew!

Appearance: Pours a murky amber with a frothy white film for head.

Aroma: Bit o honey and bourbon (vanilla, caramel and musty wood).

Taste: Burnt sugar, bit o honey, bourbon, grassy hops with a boozy finish.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with modest carbonation.

Overall: Very yummy, while big and sweet, didnít come across as messy, but rather decadent and luxurious.

Bottle picked up at the release, 2010 batch, bottle 220/276. I had this at the release on tap several times(one of my favorites of the night) but this review is of the bottle consumed out of my Darkness glass...Super dark brown pour with plum hues. Good carbonation as about four fingers of tope head rises and stays for awhile. Great lacing...The aroma is not as in your face as I recall but nice balance of bourbon, oak, and honey. Sweet and alcoholic all at once...The taste is good as I remember, just awesome. TONS of honey mixed with bourbon, reminds of an old wives tail cold remedy (water, bourbon and honey hint of lemon). Honey is all over the front and the finish is the bourbon. First time Iíve had a beer that finishes almost like drinking bourbon, warm, tingly, scratchy all the way down. Some vanilla creeps in one finish as well. This is awesome, another hit by Brad, a world class wheatwine.

4 oz. sampler at JOís 6th Anniversary. I made damn good review notes, but then I lost them. Bear with me on this. This is the base for Bourbon Berry Grove, which is one of my favorite JOís brews. 4.0 A: Dark amber color. Came with just a touch of creamy beige head. 4.5 S/ 4.5 T: Wonderful nose on this! Both incredibly fruity and spicy. Fruitiness comes in the form of overripened apple, strawberry, peach, and maybe even some cherry. The honey acts to strengethen the fruitiness. Surpringly a lot of peppery spiciness in this with supplementary generic spice. Itís hard to tell whether the yeast, the bourbon, or a combo made this as spicy as it is. Bourbon adds that last layer of complexity with leather, plenty of earth, a light vanilla, and woodiness. 4.0 M: Heavier medium body. Good almost spritzy carbonation. I just wish it was a little thicker and creamier. 4.5 D: One hell of a beer. Iím always amazed how Brad manages to throw so many things together and have the result be as good as it is instead of just a huge mess. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 12-04-2011 23:12:14

Growler from goryshkewych, huge thanks George.
Poured a very murky dark red/brown color. Lots of vanilla in the nose, bourbon as well, rich dark fruits as well. Lots of vanilla and caramel in the flavor, slight bitterness as well, very warming in the throat, this is quite good, wow.

Growler shared at DL day, forgot who though! Dark brown pour. Tons of bourbon, dark fruit, vanilla and some honey. Flavor is full of bourbon, caramel, oak, and some light bitter notes round this one out very nicely. MMMM good!

Growler at DLD. Beautiful plummy-amber pour with a well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up deep aged caramel and heather honey with soft spices and vanilla.. balance was excellent! The flavor found deep caramel and honey at the core with sour oaky and fruity character throughout.. warm sugary backing with a pinch of residual honey at the finish. Heavier-bodied and rather thick on the palate, again with great balance. Loved it!

This poured a ruby red color with a very small off white head. Aroma was very sweet smelling, and constantly reminded me of the pineapple infused vanilla milkshakes I used to drink as a child, just crazy. Flavor had the same similar taste, but also had notes of the oak, some of the sweet honey and lots of vanilla. Really interesting and complex stuff.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2009 Damn, nice, growler via bgburdman9, shared today at Alesmith, with some pals, including papajohn and smokepot23. Pours brownish with a tan ring. Nose is sweet and honeyish, rich rich rich and nice. Taste is sweet and honey, rich malts, and some coconut in there and perhaps a bit of bourbon.
