Aged in white wine barrels for three months with the wild yeast brettanomyces. Light notes of oak counter an intense funkiness from the wild fermentation. The base lager for this beer was brewed in the French farmhouse style. We added our own twist by adding 30% Rye Malt, locally grown Triticale from MA and amber Belgian candy sugar. We left this beer slightly hazy to accentuate the mild fruity yeasty character.

A hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, light sweet malt with Brett and sulfury notes, light funk. In mouth, a smooth sweet malt with nice Brett notes, corkyneess, herbal, nice and balanced. Tasted at Drink Craft Beer Summerfest Fest, July 14 2012.

Thanks for the bottle Allen! Pours a hazy orange-brown in color with a half fingers worth of head. Nose smells like dirty socks, Brett, and some fruit. Taste is dry and bretty, with some underlying spice and lager yeast. Not much in terms of the white wine barrel. Light mouthfeel, slightly watery, clean and crisp, and a short to moderate finish. Another winner from Jack’s Abby, they are doing some great things over there.

Bottle at Craft Beer Co, thanks to Mike. It pours deep golden yellow, with a medium white head. The nose is sulphurous, manure, poop, sweet undertones and dough. The taste is lightly tart, barnyard, spice, metallic, dark brown bread, underlying sweetness, toast, creaminess and ripe feta cheese. Medium body, fine, prickly carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Interesting.....but doesn’t smell particularly nice!

Bottle shared at the Craft Beer Co., Clerkenwell, London - many thanks to Mike for this one. Pours lightly hazy, bright gold with a big, white froth head. Well and funky on the nose, some horseblanket, doughy malts. Light sweet flavor with big brett funk, some sweat, faint dry dirt. Light to medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish, great sweaty funk, light dryness. Very solid and highly drinkable. Well done.

Served in a cervoise. Nose is all toasty, grainy malt. Flavor adds wine and acidity, plus grain. Medium body. Too much toast. Amber malt. Dry.

Pours hazy deep gold into a Sam glass. White head with excellent retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Brett and rye aromas. Dry with sweet nuts and caramel upfront turning slightly spicy before the lasting mild brett and bitter earth finish.

Pours a hazy brownish copper color with a couple fingers of off white foam that sticks and laces nicely. On the nose there is a fresh spicy rye aroma almost like a rye sourdough with touches of some funky yeast and earthy malts... On the palate its a lot of the same. Nice rye earthy notes with loads of round malts to balance it out... the brett sneaks out of the heavy flavors as the beer warms a bit and really shines with a nice quenching sour bitterness on the finish.

Pours hazy golden copper with a big creamy tan head. The aroma is quite funky, gassy (methane) notes from the Brett and some fruitiness, maybe white wine, blend quite nicely in the nose really nice. The flavor for the style is excellent, Bretted Biere de Garde lager - points just for something rare. Rich in flavor and body for a Biere de Garde, there is some funk, but it is not in your face s the bottle. There are pleasant sweet malty yeast farmhouse notes as well.

Bottle. Pours a ambery copper color with a two finger fluffy off white head. Nose is brett, light rye, hints of fruity cherrys. Palate is very smooth up front with a light bite and lots of film left on the tongue. Flavors of sour fruity notes, light rye. Very smooth and almost creamy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
