Big, bold, black and barrel aged. A lengthy conditioning period in bourbon barrels creates a silky smooth chocolatey mouth feel enhanced by the use of oats and brown sugar. Noticeable sweetness gets balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. Additional flavors include bourbon, vanilla and oak. OG 23.5 Plato. March release.

This poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of light roast and dry chocolate. Flavor similar, but very restrained, but not really complex, not really any barrel either. Meh

Pours a dark brown with no real head. Aromas of dark fruits and chocolate fudge. Light vanilla. The taste is too much like a lager to me and this yeast is t helping the beer. Just not digging it.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with very tiny tan looking head. Aromas of sugar, chocolate, and bourbon. Flavor had chocolate, vanilla, wood, and bourbon burning. Full body and a thick silky texture. Average carbonation and burning alcohol finish. Not bad.

Runder malziger, angenehm holziger Antrunk. Die Alkoholigkeit ist leicht und noch angenehm. Wenig herb, leicht vanillig. Nett. 10/11/10/11/10/11

Thanks Chris for generously giving this to me a few months ago. Sadly, stored at fridge temp the whole time so I don’t know if it changed too much. split 2 ways at 38F in stemware. Pours pitch black, 1 finger coffee colored head that faded quickly. Not a lot of barrel presence in the aroma. coffee, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon and brown sugar aroma with fudge. Whoa, the bitterness is insane...must be over 150 IBUs..seriously like this is insanely bitter and that totally masks the chocolate, coffee and whiskey presence. Not a terrible beer but simply not what I was expecting compared to last year’s adjunct variants.
