The beer is a brownish red color. It’s fairly hazy. The head is off white and fizzy. It fades quickly and no bubbles remain. The aroma is cherries, oak, mild bourbon and a healthy dose of lactic sour Berliner character. It smells a lot like a cherry cider. The flavor is moderately sour, pretty light before the beer warms up to room temp. The flavors from the barrel and the base beer are milder than expected. It has a fairly strong tannic quality from the oak, a drying wood bitterness. It could be a bit drier with sharper acidity. As is, the beer is somewhat lackluster. It’s an interesting idea and definitely not bad, but it just feels like the oak sapped the beer’s life somewhat.

Bottle via trade. Nose is a rich, malty, cherry, almost pie like aroma. very inviting. Pour is a dark red to light brown with a light brown to off white head that dies immediately. Taste is all cherry and tartness/sourness initially. A subtle woody character to it with just a bit of chest-hurting sourness, but secondary. Medium to light body with medium to high carbonation. Not sure what makes this a Berliner, seems more like a cherry sour red to me. tasty nonetheless.

Bottle: Thanks, Alex. Dingy hue; semi-clear copper with a bubbly gray collar. Aroma of red wine, boozy cherries, wood, a hint of lacto, & a mild cheese rind-like twang mixed in. Flavor of mildly soured hay, cherry skins, vinous boozy notes, light wood, faint acidic tartness, & hints of lemon flesh. Dry, abrupt finish with a touch of darker, caramel-y malt sweetness fading out into the aftertaste. Almost more of an Oud Bruin than a Berliner. Seems boozier than 5.5% ABV, too, thanks to the large vinous presence. Good, not great.

Pours dark cherry syrup red with no head. The aroma brings dirty (barrel and booze) cherry barrel, not necessarily trying to promote a negative connotation, but it is hard to write it any other way. Flavor brings cherry and non boozy bourbon that is not the best complement but it seems to have developed a bit of tart to help round out the flavors. Carbonation is quite low.

Bottle... Pours hazy and dark amber with an orange tint and no head. The aroma offers funk, acidity and vanilla. Medium-bodied with nearly expired carbonation. Tart, tangy and fruity with vinous, red wine-like notes. Tongue-numbing finish. Bottle courtesy of the Vero Beach Crew!

Bottle (500 ml). Hazy brownish-red with a small quickly vanishing of-white head leaving only a small ring of foam. Aroma is mild, kind of nice hybrid between a Berliner Weisse and an Oud Bruin with vanilla, caramel, red fruits, ketchup notes, light lactic presence and hints of vinegar. Taste is soft with caramel notes, vanilla, red fruits, ketchup notes and mild tartness. Light body, a bit thin. Soft carbonation. Mild fruity finish. Short aftertaste. Interesting and easy to drink beer. With a little more body and depth, it would be really nice.

Red-brown pour. Cherry, vanilla, bourbon in aroma. Taste pretty much follows tart and sweet. Wouldn't call it a Berliner...but it's good.

11/25/14. 500mL bottle thanks to rdixon77. Berliner Weisse lager? I’ll bite, I guess. Hazy amber red brown hued brew with a small khaki head that sizzles away to nothing fast, basically no lacing. Tame aroma, cherry, vanilla, a bit of bourbon and vanilla, tartness. More tartness up front in the flavor, cherry, vanilla and oak, very light hint at bourbon. Tasty.

Bottle from unknown via Justin D. Pours a dark reddish brown, not much head. Aroma cherries, oak, sweetness. Body slightly sweet, woody tartness, finish tannic. I dig it.

First bottle of the tasting - thanks Felipe! Pours hazy reddish hazel, kinda pretty actually. Minimal head or lacing. Aroma is hugely woody, cherry and oak tannins fighting dominance. Flavor is medium tart, lightly funky, lots of oak here too and a bit vinous, toffee notes and a bit of cherry round things out. Fairly light on the body. Enjoyable little beer, whatever the hell it is...
