Bottle at Bills. Pours a dceep murky body. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet cherries, vinegar, lots of acidity, sour wheat and spice. I don’t think I would label this a berliner on blind tasting.

Bottle thanks to WillRunForBeer. Aromas are cherry skins, red wine, lemon and wheat. Tastes like earth, cherry, light lemon, wheat and salt. Solid.

Bottle: The aroma consists of mild cherry, cola, light vanilla, and oak. It pours a transparent orangish-brown with a small off-white head that quickly fades to almost nothing. The flavor starts with cherry and light cola. The finish has mild lemon with a hint of vanilla, oak, and grain. It’s light bodied with mild carbonation.

Darker brown body, thin light tan head, spotty lacing. Cherry cola, light milk chocolate, lagery bread, some wheat, more acetic than lactic. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily, mild acidity. Not particularly pleasurable.

Bottle shared by someone at Bills. Notes of cherry chocolate, acidic berries, dust, and all around weird notes. Nothing Berliner like about it. More of a bad dark saison that got somewhat infected.

Bottle. Aroma is a brown caramel malt. Taste is very medicinal. Cherry cough drops with a bit of sourness. Different but weird.

The beer is a brownish red color. It’s fairly hazy. The head is off white and fizzy. It fades quickly and no bubbles remain. The aroma is cherries, oak, mild bourbon and a healthy dose of lactic sour Berliner character. It smells a lot like a cherry cider. The flavor is moderately sour, pretty light before the beer warms up to room temp. The flavors from the barrel and the base beer are milder than expected. It has a fairly strong tannic quality from the oak, a drying wood bitterness. It could be a bit drier with sharper acidity. As is, the beer is somewhat lackluster. It’s an interesting idea and definitely not bad, but it just feels like the oak sapped the beer’s life somewhat.

Bottle via trade. Nose is a rich, malty, cherry, almost pie like aroma. very inviting. Pour is a dark red to light brown with a light brown to off white head that dies immediately. Taste is all cherry and tartness/sourness initially. A subtle woody character to it with just a bit of chest-hurting sourness, but secondary. Medium to light body with medium to high carbonation. Not sure what makes this a Berliner, seems more like a cherry sour red to me. tasty nonetheless.

Bottle: Thanks, Alex. Dingy hue; semi-clear copper with a bubbly gray collar. Aroma of red wine, boozy cherries, wood, a hint of lacto, & a mild cheese rind-like twang mixed in. Flavor of mildly soured hay, cherry skins, vinous boozy notes, light wood, faint acidic tartness, & hints of lemon flesh. Dry, abrupt finish with a touch of darker, caramel-y malt sweetness fading out into the aftertaste. Almost more of an Oud Bruin than a Berliner. Seems boozier than 5.5% ABV, too, thanks to the large vinous presence. Good, not great.

Pours dark cherry syrup red with no head. The aroma brings dirty (barrel and booze) cherry barrel, not necessarily trying to promote a negative connotation, but it is hard to write it any other way. Flavor brings cherry and non boozy bourbon that is not the best complement but it seems to have developed a bit of tart to help round out the flavors. Carbonation is quite low.
