Hoponius Union harmoniously combines lager yeast fermentation and West Coast IPA hops. Our India style Pale Lager is like a traditional IPA but with a twist - it’s fermented cold and aged for extended periods. A blend of classic American hops creates a huge tropical fruit and citrusy hop aroma. A dry finish accentuates the pleasant bitterness and hop profile. Hoponius Union uses locally sourced ingredients. OG 15.5 Plato

Poured into lager glass. Deep golden orange with a humongous frothy head that subsided to a tight layer with tons of lacing start to finish. Aroma was malty, earthy, some yeast, citrus fruit, a slight but of pine resin. The citrus aroma reminds me of lemon lime hard candies. Get the malts immediately on he sip, then a huge blast of citrus more grapefruit than the nose suggested. Earthy underneath, nice hit of bitterness, not overwhelming. Tiny bit of breadiness or yeast, slightly toasty. Flavor hits and passes quickly, and grapefruit and maybe mango linger just a bit. Very clean and refreshing, light on the palate. Finishes dry and makes you want more. The carbonation is light and refreshing. Very drinkable and can see this on a hot summer day.

Stunned, amazing! Dark golden pour with white head. Tropical fruit and citrus aroma. Crisp, lemon zesty citrusy. Hint if pine, a little bit citrus tartness. Plenty hoppy too. Absolutely delicious.

Draft at Cask Republic, New Haven. Definitely seeing a craze for this style lately, which makes sense. Combines the aromatics of a good IPA with the body of a lager. Pours a medium orange-amber, nose crisp and resinous, no heavy stickiness here. Body is smooth and maybe even a bit creamy, some graham cracker notes and lingering resinous bittering as well, glad to have given this a whirl, hopefully a Shelton Bros or some similar can get this going nationwide.

Bottle at Café Viking. Medium high white fluffy lasting head. Cloudy orange body. Sweet mango peach aroma. Dry fruity nutty flavor with a fair amount of hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long dry and bitter finish.

Bottle shared at Paul’s. Poured a thin watery light clear gold with a small foamy white head. Aroma/flavor of earth, light dirty citrus, grassy hops. Medium to slightly lighter body, average carbonation and an average duration on the aftertaste.

Pours cloudy golden color with a decent sized white head. Nice citrus aroma with some tropical fruit. Sweet citrus start with some mango and pineapple notes. Finish is slightly metallic and pine holiness. Finish is smooth and crisp. This brew is wicked good!

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This golden beer has a malty, almond, pine and orange marmalade flavour with smooth creamy notes on the bitter opine finish. Excellent!

12pz bottle thanks to BoostIPA. Damn, this is a lager? Badass. Pours pale gold, clear with rocky white head. Aroma of dank, skunky, hoppy goodness. Beneath that is just a little citrus. Taste: hop punch up front; fruity underpinnings. Remarkably clean and dry lager core beneath the hop front. Light body, lively carbonation. I could drink the shit out of this. This is fantastic.

This is a really nice beer - somehow the lagering mellows out the bitterness of the hops. Excellent mouth feel, excellent taste. As a New Englander, I’m really glad to find a local IP(x) with a citrusy, not toasty, hopped flavor.

Fruity notes are moderate, a very well balanced beer with a dry finish versus the typical overpowering bitter aftertaste of an IPA.
