COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoponius Union harmoniously combines lager yeast fermentation and West Coast IPA hops. Our India style Pale Lager is like a traditional IPA but with a twist - it’s fermented cold and aged for extended periods. A blend of classic American hops creates a huge tropical fruit and citrusy hop aroma. A dry finish accentuates the pleasant bitterness and hop profile. Hoponius Union uses locally sourced ingredients. OG 15.5 Plato

I have found the perfect Ipa. Ok, technically this is an IPL (India Pale Lager). Crisp, clean and delicious! Jack’s Abby never disappoints. From the Citra hop aroma, through the sharp, yet smooth finish, this beer is phenomenal. Eminently drinkable.

I can’t believe how inexpensive this beer is for the topmost quality ! Wonderful hops with a finish that tapers off to expose its lager roots in an unobtrusive, clean manner.

Amazing idea to make a super-hopped lager. So points for that. But really, this beats most session IPAs hands-down for flavor and relatively low ABV. Wonderful beer and a steal at $2.69 for 1pt. 9oz. bottle in western MA.

On tap at the brewery. Dense and intense aroma of fresh crushed citrus, gooey pine resin, and florals all melded together beautifully. The flavors are just as sharp and alive. This is so, so, so, so much better than 90% of all hoppy beers on the market and embarrasses most IPAs in terms of hop flavor and textural balance. Crisp, pungent, and lively. The flavors marry so well, into that explosive, rich emergent hop flavor that I’m always looking for in good Double IPAs. I thought it was so good, we left the tasting room and went out to find a bar that had it to get a full pour. Exceptional hop brewing!

Pours a clear, light golden color with an impressive white head. Speaking of impressive, the nose on this lager is a big surprise. Grapefruit and pine a plenty. A nice medium-bodied mouthfeel that has adequate carbonation and dryness at the finish paves the way for grapefruit, pine, and floral flavors make this extremely drinkable lager very tasty.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2013 Jack’s Abbey does it again. They take a lager and transform it into something amazing. It looked and tasted like an IPA. Golden/orange hue with that sticky head. Big citrus hoppy nose. Fantastic. *Even better the 2nd time!

IPL, this beer won’t get rted highly because the asinine pretentious beer-rating culture has deemed lagers to be unimpressive, but this beer is better than 95% of IPAs being produced in the world right now. In a blind tasting, none of the obnoxious beer-nerd assholes would be able to tell this was a lager.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange yellow. Thin white head dissipates quickly. Nice hop aroma. This is a tasty ipa that is drinkable but not too light. Not super complex but enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Every once in a while you pick a beer of a list with no idea what to expect. This was one of those times and boy did it pay off well. Even my IPA-averse girlfriend thought this was great. Pours a clear gold with soft pillowy head. Huge hop aromas - citrus, tropical fruits, apricot, resin running the show. Stiff malt backbone. Beautifully balanced, crisp, drinkable. Enjoy how it evolves as it slowly warms up.
