4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Glouglouburp (5568) - Montreal, Quebec, - JAN 31, 2013In short: A no-style toasted and grassy golden thirst lager of exceptional quality. Wow!
How: Bottle 500ml. Consumed fresh two weeks after purchase from the brewery, bottle given to me by lushawn, thanks a lot Shawn.
The look: Crystal clearn golden-blond body topped by a medium white with medium retention.
In long: Nose is has a pleasant sun toasted hay, that fresh “lager smell” that I can never put into words, grassy noble hops. Taste is an exercise in freshness, the true lager character coming through, boiled egg whites (I’m the only one on the planet who gets this from some clean lagers), grainy cereals with a definite freshly picked sun dried hay character, good amount of grassy noble hops, a light touch of caramel. Finish has a mild bitterness and toastiness and dry grass add a dryness that makes you want to go back for another sip right away. Full chewy body with bubbles that are a bit too hard. Except for beers like Heater Allen Coastal and a few others I haven’t had an American bottled thirst lager that was as satisfying this Jabby Brau. I can’t wait for the tickers to start sharing a bottle between 6 of them and thrash the score of this fine fine beer. What a highly drinkable beer, a 500ml bottle just wasn’t enough, but for a good thirst lager like this one I don’t think I’d find any bottle size big enough if it doesn’t require two handles.

500ml bottle in a lager glass. Pours golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of floral and lightly citrusy hops plus a nice light, maltiness. Flavor the same with a good blend of the light elements. Average to light texture. A great beer for the style.

ottle thanks to rob paul, thanks bud yur grate! YEllow with a white head. Doesn’t smell much like an abbey belgium beer. As a lager, it’s good. A bit too aggressive with the bitterness, some enjoyable fruit notes complimented the light body. Mildly bitter finish, very clean. Pour one out for your buddy before obama taxes your dead doge.

Tap at Kinsale in Boston. Pours straw clear with some head and lots of lacing. Nose is floral. Aromas of biscuit, some yeast, light grassy hops and a pilsner type bite to the finish. Tastes were light sweet and light bitter. Light enough body with lively carbonation. Nice clean beer with good depth and complexity for the style.

Clean, easy drinking lager with a nice fruity hop quality to it. I am not certain of the freshness of my bottle but I imagine this beer is even more special when on draft. Also, amazing value at 3 dollars for a pint bottle.

phenomenal lagers coming from Jack’s Abby. This is what Lager should taste like. Beautiful fresh subtle grain aromas and flavors, restrained-yet-present hop crispness, and a slightly sweet classic German yeast profile.
