COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark strong interpretation of a double bock. Full bodied with a raisiny, dark fruit, slightly roasted and chewy malt character. Lagered for two months, a smooth malt character balances the high ABV of this strong beer.

On tap at the tasting room - Framingham, MA. Complex, dense and ranging brown aroma. Caramels, toasted nuts, and a big twinge of umami. Flavors are similar. It’s funny. I really like this and think it’s a fantastically integrated dunkel-style doppelbock, with a really rich browned malt character, but it has that slightly too-umami glutamate character to it that often fatigues my palate quickly. I would only need about 6 ounces of this to make me happy and it’d be worth it, because it’s a really classy beer.

Pours a beautiful toasty copper brown with perfect clarity and a faint ruby blush. Fat head of tan foam that fell quickly to a thin ring. Not much lace. Nose very tempting. There’s bread, sweet chocolate, caramel, dark fruits and a touch fo brown sugar. Taste is delightful with layered malt complexity on a medium body. Rich and rowdy malt shows itself off in a way that’s frolicsome and fun. Caramel, bread, dark fruits, raisin, date and fig, a touch of brown sugar and a bit of soft faint chocolate and it even hints at nuts. It has laid a malt feast before you and then , like placing a single flower in a bud vase on a table, there is a touch of warmth from the alcohol to finish this crisp and dry.

Simply excellent. The body is a bit thinner than some of the german dopplebocks but with impeccable balance and with flavors that captivate this beer is contemporary and stylish.

Got in a BIF from tasterschoice62. 500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly cloudy deep ruby red/brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, dark fruit, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, dark fruit, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and fairly grainy/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent doppelbock style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, dark fruit, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. This has very prominent roasted flavors of a Schwarzbier along with with the dryness; but still has balanced doppelbock malty/fruity complexity as well. A very enjoyable hybrid of the two styles.

Pours a lovely clear amber brown with a small white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is sweet with hints of brown sugar and molasses. Reminds me of troegenator but a little better.

Barwa: głęboko miedziana, klarowna. Piana w kolorze ecru, drobno pęcherzykowa, średniej wielkości, względnie szybko opadająca, ale ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: słodowy, głównie chlebowy, karmelowy, toffi, czekoladowy, melanoidynowy, z dodatkiem suszonych owoców. Mimo dużej mocy alkohol całkiem dobrze ukryty. Całość w miarę ogrzewania coraz bardziej przyjemna i niemęcząca. Szkoda dość wysokiej ceny, ale piwa z USA niestety muszą przebyć dość długą drogę do Polski i częściowo można to zrozumieć.

Bottle. This pours clear dark ruby with a a small creamy beige head. Strong chocolate malty character with nutty notes. Rye crackers. Huge malty flavor. Chocolate notes. Nuts, ripe black berries and has a deep roasted nutty finish. I love it!

My Bottom Line:
This Doppelbock’s bready lengths, surrounded by comfortable Munich malt, dwell in a refined and highly authentic presentation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the gleaming copper-hued mahogany.
-Alcohol is a no show in the flavor profile.
-Drinkability is higher than most of this style. Residual sugar levels are low, as you can imagine.
-Munich malt and their accompanying residual sugars also create dark cherry connotations.

Bottle.

Deep brown pour with a thin white head. The nose has a great rich cooked malt aroma. Toasted grain and a bit of soft malt sweetness. Rich, sweet and delicious. There’s a lot of toffee, treacle, cooked malt and a bit of plum and sweet toasted grain. Sweet and chewy. Clean and clear. The malts really show through. Delicious brew.
