COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark strong interpretation of a double bock. Full bodied with a raisiny, dark fruit, slightly roasted and chewy malt character. Lagered for two months, a smooth malt character balances the high ABV of this strong beer.

Toasted malts, a little roast, dark fruit, a touch of alcohol. Pours brown with an off white head, nice lace. Flavors of darker fruit, toast, soft roast, moderate sweetness cleans up in the finish with just a hint of alcohol. Very well balanced and put together. A style I do not normally enjoy, this was very solid.

My Bottom Line:
This Doppelbock’s bready lengths, surrounded by comfortable Munich malt, dwell in a refined and highly authentic presentation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the gleaming copper-hued mahogany.
-Alcohol is a no show in the flavor profile.
-Drinkability is higher than most of this style. Residual sugar levels are low, as you can imagine.
-Munich malt and their accompanying residual sugars also create dark cherry connotations.

Bottle.

Draft at Eulogy. Dark clear copper brown pour with a slim white ring. Full body. Has the general character of a doppelbock. Black cherry cordials. Chocolate pudding. Vanilla toffee caramels. Plums. Fresh figs. Bettered expectations.

Cerveza tomada en el Kraken Oviedo. Bastante alcoholica. Color rojizo turbio. Sabores afrutados y ajerezados. Apenas hace espuma. Potente.

Medium beige head. Clear deep red body with ongoing carbonation. Raisiny perfumy syrupy aroma, very delicate, with spicy toffee notes. Dry-sweet spicy raisiny toffee taste with wooden herbal notes. Wonderfully delicate. Wow. Full-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish raisiny chocolatey dusty caramel aftertaste with rye crisp bread, nutty, teak wood notes. Lovely, lovely flavours, melding together just right. I’m really impressed. Didn’t have high hopes for this one, but wow. (0.5l bottle, from Fish & Beer, Copenhagen. It’s been in the cellar roughly 9 months.)

Attractive amber pour with tan foam. Caramel chews and bread dough but there’s a bit of a stale quality. Maybe got trapped at the back of the fridge too long? Based on the other reviews, will have to give it another shot.

Pours dark reddish amber, med tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, raisin, brown sugar, caramel, nutty, prune. Flavor is sweet pruney malt, doughy french toast malt, berry, light spicy hop. Medium body, some sticky boozy malt. Very well balanced nice stuff.
