Cloaked in mystery, this dark black beer skirts the line between a schwarzbier and smoked porter. The use of a small percentage of traditional Beechwood smoked malt adds complexity and balances the liberal use of chocolate malt. Notes of roasted grains, beechwood smoke and coffee accompany a full bodied and sweet chocolatey malt character. Smoke & Dagger uses locally sourced ingredients. OG 14.5 Plato

From a 12oz bottle. Thanks Shawn. Very interesting beer. I think this is the 1st "smoked" beer i have had, although I could be wrong due to being stupper. OK, so I have read other reviews of smoked beer, and I noticed bacon mentioned. Maybe this is just me, but when I swirl the beer around, the dominant smell I come up with bacon. Who does not love bacon! The taste does not translate, which is good. More on the chocolate, malty side, with a very slight bitterness coming through. Good beer! Would recommend to others!

Bottle, thanks Brian! Black pour with a short lasting thin head. Aroma of smoke, dark malts, and bread. Thin, flat mouthfeel. Smoke comes through nicely with a dry slightly bitter finish. I like how the lighter body highlights the smoked malts.

Kinda hate smoked beers so not super excited here. Blackish, 2 finger tan head that isn’t going anywhere. Aroma is mostly smoke, not Surly Smoke level, stick your nose in a BBQ smoke, but its strongish. A swirl brings out a bit of hop aroma. Flavor is a combination of so many flavors I hate. None of them are dominant, so its not incredibly offensive, but I don’t see any upside in this beer. Palate is fine. This beer was sent as an extra, which is the only reason I’m drinking it. This just isn’t my style.

Bottle in a recent trade with Chris, thanks! Pour is deep brown with a small tan head. Aroma is smoky with light caramel malt and light coffee. Flavor is smoky but less than expected. Also sweet caramel malt, light roasty flavor, and a bit of coffee. Not overly smoky which is a plus for me. Well balanced and easy to drink.

Nice dark brown color with very little head. Very malty beer with a smoky overtone. Not as smoky as I was expecting but it balances well with the other flavors. Good beer.

Had as a bottled beer in a mason jar mug. Pours with a nice brown color with a decent sized head that lingers. Subtle smoke smell. Drinks as a heavier smoked porter with notes of smoke, cocoa and a sweetness that balances.Pleasant beer overall.
