COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cloaked in mystery, this dark black beer gets roasted and smoky notes from traditional Beechwood smoked malt and chocolate malt. Full bodied and malty with little to no hop character.

This is a smokey SOB, but has the black lager chops to back up the roast. Sweet chocolate malts to follow. Dark brown with a two finger tan head that lasts for awhile. Tastes of smoked meats and cocoa. If you have ever had chocolate covered bacon, and I suggest you do, this beer will take you right back there. Thick and creamy while retaining a crisp lager profile. It will fill you up, and is a match for grilled tips and even smoked sausage or turkey and the like. This local phenom has my attention already, and this one really dials it up.

Aroma of chocolate, meat, and lager yeast. Pours black with a fizzy white head. Taste is super pleasant with burnt meat, bacon, chocolate, and a nice lager skunk. Super enjoyable. Could drink this all day.

Bottle - Pours murky cola brown with a thin tan head. Nose is chocolate malt, subtle dry smoke, and a real light cherry sweetness. The taste is really drinkable, with light smokiness, a bit of dark cherry, more chocolatey malt, and a dry, roasty bitter finish. Smooth and soft in the mouth, with just enough carbonation. Really easy drinking, smooth and quenching. Excellent.

I know this uses smoked malts but I feel like it should be under Schwarzbier since it’s clearly in that style. Really great beer, caramelly, a bit of smoky meat quality, some slight cocoa sweetness, just a remarkably tasty beer. Lovely, and great value at 3 bucks.

Bottle (500 ml). From reynolds314, thanks Matt! Black with a medium quickly diminishing off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is of subtle smoked malt, roasted malt and slight chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet with grains, roasted malt and, again, subtle smoked malt notes along with chocolate. Mouthfeel is dry. Medium body. Interesting beer, but not outstanding.

Draft @ Ward Eight, Lowell MA. 10 oz. mug shows deep brown in a poorly lit bar. Thin tan head some lace. Chocolate, light grain and subtle smoke. Flavor follows the nose with some coffee ground and caramel notes as well. I’m really glad the smoke is subtle. Texture is kind of sticky, light syrup. The body is exactly as it should be for a dark lager. This brewer pulled off a tuff thing to do for me. A smoked beer that I enjoyed drinking. Well done Gents!!

Very dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma is roasty, smokey and has a little bit of chocolate. Medium bodied, smooth and creamy. Peaty/smoky up front with a bit of chocolate and wood on the back end. Pleasant finish, a little lingering smoke. Smoke beers are hit or miss. I don’t like them when they are obnoxiously smoky. This one is a hit, great body, good flavor and just enough smoke to make it different.

Tap. Very smokey. It had a bit of a charred aftertaste. Not bad for a smoked beer, but this isn’t my favorite style.
