A lot is read into the word craft or micro-produced. But how many cider companies have been growing apples for over 50 years? Not many. With Jack’s Hard Cider, we pride ourselves in the fact that we produce a hard cider from the ground up – literally. We grow the apples, press apples, ferment apples, and package the final product all from our facility located in one of the Apple Capitals of the World, Biglerville Pennsylvania. In a town that claims some of the biggest brand names in Apple Products, Jack’s Hard Cider was inspired by “Jack” Hauser, who led Musselman Foods into national recognition in the 1950s, and who is the patriarch of the Hauser Family, makers of Jack’s Hard Cider.

Draft at Right Proper. Poured a clear golden yellow color, mostly still. Aroma was light apples, touch of sweet and semi-sweet apple notes. Nothing crazy, perhaps a bit boring, but not bad.

A bubbly, bitter tasty green apple cider. Chewy texture. Jack uses good apples! It is super bitter and astringent. It isn’t too sweet, like an apple would be. Nice.

Pours a watery yellow colour, not bad looking I guess for a cider. Nice aroma of a nice chardonnay really nice. Tastes of wine, apples with a sour apple kick. I like this one

Can. Very clear color. Overly carbonated in my opinion. Funny acidic aftertaste. Would not get again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Nose is sweet and lightly floral apple with a mild stale note. Ultra-pale yellow, very clear, with very strong effervescence that takes the head away in two seconds, flat. Very crisp in the mouth, which is refreshing, but the apple flavor is very weak. No bitterness, not really tangy, either, and not too sweet. Nice medium body, good apple juice vibe.

Crystal clear pale golden coloured body with a thin, very fast-dying (soda-like) head. Aroma of apples, yeast, lemons and way more apples - nice. Light-bodied; Pungent apple flavour of gala and slightly citric notes with a bit of a sweetness, some light acid and a good pure apple flavour throughout. Aftertaste is nice and mellow with a good sweetness and nice balance - no sign of alcohol. Overall, a good cider with mild and subdued flavours, but almost nothing, but pure apples. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 24-October-2013 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 10-January-2014.

Can from Northern Liberties’ Foodery in Philly. Served in a rounded pint glass.
The color of pale lager, but not quite crystal clear. Constant activity.
Smell is flat & humble. Mild,, starchy apples, gummi bears, perry, maybe some menthol.
Flavor is middle of the road. Mushy sweet apples, vanilla, light initial tartness. Perry. Sweet grain & a silky, albeit sulfited finish. Lacks a pronounced acidity & feels flabby.
Carbonation is thankfully not to harsh for being forced. Slight amount of body. Alcohol is tucked away.
A touch too sweet, & not enough bite. Described in one word: saucy.
