MrRain (346), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Sep 21, 2008 Updated: Dec 22, 2008 12oz bottle poured into a stemmed glass. JPSA pours a clear orange color with a medium-sized head that leaves a delicate soapy lacing. The aroma consists of fresh water, ginger and pumpkin. The ginger adds a feeling of freshness. The body is thin but short of watery. The finish is extremely quick and clean. The taste billet consists of nutmeg, ginger and pumpkin. This really is a pretty good showing from a brewer who traditionally has problems reaching the charts. This is nott a memorable beer but it is better than people give it credit for.
lithy (560), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 6, 2009 Clear bright orange with a creamy thin white head. Aroma of allspice and ginger, too thin on the tastes of light spices again, no malt backbone. djd07 (414), Houston, Texas, USA Jan 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy copper color with a large frothy white head that lasts awhile. The aroma is cinammon, ginger, and light malt. Good sticky lacing on the glass. The taste is similar to the aroma with a spicy finish. A decent spice brew from AB. BelgianBeerGal (1051), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bottle at a party and man am I glad I did pay for this. Definitely not a cheaper Pumking clone if that is what you are looking for. Not bad just unremarkable in any way. martinboer (118), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jan 1, 2009 Bottle at Dan’s. Pumpkin taste very strong, overpowering. Spicy taste. Definitely not my thing. Head dissapeared quickly. Leaves strong aftertaste. TheBeerBaron (180), Florida, USA Dec 27, 2008 Clear orange color no real head and no carbonation makes a less than impressive appearance. Cinnamon and nutmeg aroma absolutely dominate the smell of this beer to the point of artificial flavoring. I guess there is pumpkin but sugar as well. If there is hops I dont notice them on the aroma. Flavor is spice and more salt taste than anything else. I guess some pumpkin again but predominately salt water taste. Nothing much to describe beyond that. Palate is light like many mass produced American giants. Anheuser has impressed me with their flourish of specialty beer lately but this one does not.
