Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, day 3 on 2 December 2010. Dark amber. Quite dry. Biscuity malt throughout. Some sweet caramel and berry fruit but dries out on the finish. OK but not particularly memorable.

Cask@Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival 2011. Tastersize. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts along with mild fruity, floral and wooden notes.Flavour is similar in a quite sweet way. Has the hops, but lacks a bit of balancing bitterness.

Bottled. Hazy amber, rich head. Perfumy fruity caramel aroma. Sweet and caramelly with light body, not really firm. Lots of caramel, low bitterness. Not my cup of tea.

Cask (gravity) @ 27th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2010, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England.

Clear medium to dark amber colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, medicine. Initial flavor is moderate sweet and bitter, finish flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a average to long duration, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. [20101202]

A Sim rate (cask at Pig’s Ear): Smells of cherry drops and fruit salad, but with something quite musky underneath. Looks like strawberry Ribena that’s been sitting around for a while. Flavour is bitter with wood and tobacco but with a surprising taste of sweet fruit. Very bizarre, but not in a good way. OK in parts but awful in others. Very weird stuff.

Pigs Ear. Hazy amber beer, no head. Slightly sourish. Light dry palate. Nice fruits - strawberries, raspberries and a little fruits of the forest. Not bad.
