3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark red with a medium-grained, shallow, mashed-potato, red-orange head. Nose is cherry, wild rose, red wine vinegar, sumac, and rye cracker. Really tart up front, with a definite sour cherry bite; there’s a lot of fruit vinegar to it as well, and a lactic savory edge like Muenster cheese. The sourness is balanced somewhat by cherry pit and skin bitterness. A little thin on the finish, shading towards Sweet-Tart. It’s all right.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, as Kriek des Jacobins. Pours clear ruby, small beige-pink head, dissipates quickly but with good lacing. Aroma is cherries, hint of fecal matter, funk. Flavor is pretty sweet, light tart, cherries, very light funkiness. Medium body. Eh. Pretty beer, but not really much backing it up.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark hazy red with a small head & good lace.
The aroma is mildly funky with some sweetness and a big cherry character. Lightly nutty and floral, but mild.
The flavor is lightly sour with a light sweetness & plenty of tart cherry. Light lemon & ludens drops persist. Reasonably nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared 11.2 oz. bottle, donated to the session by Paul, the distributor rep, poured in my case, to a small snifter, showing a clear & bright, garnet color, with a nice layer of off white head foam that reduced to the thin ring, light film, and spots of lacing. The aroma was a light nose of cherry that was slightly artificial, and subtle candy sweetness. Light bodied, the taste followed similarly, with pleasant spritz & tartness, and light finishing dryness. Refreshing.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
As Kreik des Jacobins. Red with a pink head. Aroma is slightly wheaty, but mostly cherries and marzipan. Soft drink texture. Quite sweet at first, then an underlying tartness creeps up to just about share the honours. The cherries are pretty plain and so’s the beer underneath (or perhaps it’s masked by the cherries). Some herbal notes, not much sign of almonds or apricot stones until it warmed a bit. Really improved as it warmed.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Newly labeled 33cl bb05/2017, from source during Rondje Roodbruin 2016. - Add to deScription: "Matured for 12 months on oaken barrels. Enriched with 20% cherries." aka not lambiek ripened on cherries... Fizzy ruby purple, decent macropores. Xmassy candy aromas of caramel almonds, cinnamon, clove and cherry - there is a tacky edge to all that. A harsh mouthfeel makes that same cinnamon and allspice attack the palate with less that subtle flavours of supermarket cherry juice and quite some balsamic acids, then a bitter almond finish. - At least not sweetened and quite authentic for the style, if lacking real wild character (short finish).

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/8/2015. Pours crystal clear dark ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of sweet/tart cherry, plum, apple, lemon, red grape, brown sugar, toasted oak, pepper, hay, straw, grass, light musty funk, light vanilla/leather, and yeast/oak earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, cherry, oak barrel, and moderate malt notes; with good strength. Taste of sweet/tart cherry, plum, apple, lemon, red grape, brown sugar, toasted oak, pepper, hay, straw, grass, light musty funk, light vanilla/leather, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/acidic tartness and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of cherry, plum, apple, lemon, red grape, brown sugar, toasted oak, pepper, hay, straw, grass, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, cherry, oak barrel, and moderate malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from acidity/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp/acidic, and lightly grainy/creamy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very good standard fruit lambic. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, cherry, oak barrel, and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
