Further expansion of the Max theme, stemming from the Jacobins brand of Bockor ílambicí or lambic derivatives. This one is an amber coloured, light summer beer made with passion fruit extract, which is nearly all that the nose gets; lemonade-like, very sweet taste totally dominated by the artificial passion fruit, slight tartness but cloying nevertheless. Like many other light, overtly sweet fruit beers, only suitable for people who donít really like the taste of beer.

0.25l bottle. Actually been trying to avoid this for a while, but I guess I have to drink it st some point. Pours a cloudy really warm peach red body with a small quickly sidesticking white pinkish head. Smells sweet and sugary with lots of sweet fruity nuances. Sweet cherries, lychee, passion fruit and peaches. Lots of sweetness, but itís still not way over the top. Itís actually not as bad I had feared. Yeah itís sugary and sweet as heck in the mouth but itís still drinkable. Or sip-able at least Like how the artificial sweet fruits comes through in the taste. Not directly cloying, but it contains a lot of sugar. A herbal bitterness help kinda balancing it a tiny bit, but Iím glad this is a small bottle. 27.02.2014

250 ml bottle. Slightly unclear orange body with a fast disappearing white head. Aroma is artificial like wine gums. Flavor is way too sweet, artificial sour candy fruit. No bitterness and no beer flavors. Medium body and aftertaste with the same flavor as the rest. I thought they have stopped ruining the lambic reputation like this by now?

250ml bottle at home. Pours hazy pale cherry, no head. Aromas are low-fat generic fruit yoghurt, passion fruit in there, also grapefruit and peach melba. Taste is sweet, with a faint memory of sourness. Coats the tongue with something. Not very good.

Hazed orange/red. Thin off white head that thins to the edge. Nose is passion fruit, kiwi, light sugars. Taste comprises passion fruit, sweet sugars, touch of mineral, tropical fruit tones. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation, sweet finish.

Bottle. An unclear, orange colored beer with a minimal-sized white head. The aroma is sugary, candy-ish, with an artificial fruityness. The flavor is sweet as hell and lighlty sourish, with a sticky feeling on the palate. Sweet, fruity and artificial finish. Overall, way too sweet this one, even though thereís a little sourness going on. Sure wonít come back to this one. 140207

250ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.

Cloudy hazy pomegranate-like reddish pink colour with thin trace of yeast sediments; Very thin head with soapy off-pink foam which fades in 20 seconds; Very small sticky lacing with near zero carbonation; Very sweet aroma of peach juice and peach yoghurt, with passion fruit, cherry, perfume, sugar, faint tannic and light malt; Strong sweet taste of peach juice, with yoghurt, passion fruit, light cherry, malt, sugar, tannic and light yeast; Light body, thin palate; Mouth feel is essentially a mix of strong sweet fruit juice, with peach being most prominent, followed by passion fruit and light cherry. Lambic yoghurty taste is there but not strong enough to counter the sweet juice, which is tart but not assertive enough. Malt, tannic and light yeast are secondary, as this is just yoghurty fruit juice. Doh! Hoppiness is undetactable in nose and taste. Light tannic for lasting, strong sweet yoghurt finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: There are good examples of fruit lambics like St. Louis Framboise and Peche, where fruitiness and Lambicís tartness are equally balanced and intense. This one, though, suffers from too much not-so exotic fruit juice (peach over passion fruit) and not enough Lambic. For a lesser price, I rather drink fruit juice instead.
