COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bootle, 75 cl. Copper colored with a short lasting off-white head. Aroma is yeast, light banana, bread, caramel. Taste is caramel malty and yeasty with fruit notes and a surprisingly dry almost dusty finish. Smooth and very generic beer and not that ’belgian’ in my book, but drinkable if left with the choice of only standard danish macros.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark amber with airy off-white head. Dark aroma of malt and caramel. Distinct caramellish and malty flavour with subtle notes of dries fruit. Sweetish aftertaste. Quite decent.

75 cl bottle @ Timo A.
Pours clear mahogany color with a small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, some caramel, goose berries, malts and yeast. Stuffy on the nose. Flavor of yeast, fruits, malts, some caramel and malts. The alcohol comes through a bit too much.

75 cl bottle @ Timo A, BBE 13.11.2012
Aroma is quite soapy with fruits and some sugar. Also a feeling of artifical sweetener. Flavour is rather sweet with lots of sugar, some fruits and solvent-like alcohol. Too sticky and sweet.

Pours a dark reddish amber colour with a white head. Aroma of sweet berries, toasted malts and almonds. Flavour of sweet berries, toasted malts, almonds, very sweet English toffee and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel and really smooth and soft mouthfeel. Alcohol warms nicely. Good.

70cl bottle of Carlsberg Abbey Ale from 1997, poured a deep brown with no head and an aroma of musty old barrels. There’s a bit of demerara in there and a touch of orange and prune, plus rotting leafmould. The body is complex - earthy, faintly sweet, and notes of prune and treacle, but also dry and musty, like homebrew with old dead yeast stirred up (the sediment was in fact thoroughly stuck to the bottom of the bottle!). Interesting stuff, but it hasn’t aged as well as I’d hoped.
