The aroma has figs, prunes and perhaps some metal. The flavor also has prunes and peraps some candi sugar. The head is not very good.

Clear brown color with fine sized off-white head. Caramel aroma. Flavor of caramel.

Dark, redish brown with a small tan head. Fruity and malty notes. Malt, fruit and sweetness. Medium to full body with a sweetish finish.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2011 0.75 bottle. Aroma of coffee and different kind of fruits, noticeable blackcurrant scent. Hazy light brown liquid with small, creamy head of great retention. Mostly bitter taste with a solid doze of saltiness and a bit of umami. Medium body and a slightly sticky texture with rather soft carbonation. Medium length, bitter and very dry finish. Too salty in my view, it lacks the balance between different ingredients what makes it slightly irritant for the tongue.

Fine head, deep golden - almost brown. nose with caramel and figs. fruity. Medium to fullbody and some length. Taste is again caramel, figs and some fruityness. not so complex, but harmonic.

Served from bottle which been in my fridge for 5 weeks. Very surprising aroma with odours of different kinds of fruits and berries. Head disappears fast, sweet taste with none of the fruits smelled, kind of medium..

Bottle. Old Semper Ardens Abbey Ale (expiry date six months ago). Pours hazy brown with beige lasting head. Aroma is malt, yeast, licorice, burnt caramel and figs. Taste is round and dry with a bit of sweetness. Palate is filling with lively carbonation. Easy to enjoy.

Gekocht als Carlsberg Abbey Ale. Roodbruin bier met dunne cremekleurige schuimkraag. Smaak caramel met moutige tonen.

Bottle 0,75 l, It pours dark brown with off white head.... aroma is caramel, dark fruits, roasted malt.... the flavor is kind of vinous, water, bitter....

0,75 l. bottle from the supermarket labeled as Jacobsen Abbey Ale but the beer is the same. Poured in to a trappist glass. Dark red-brown colour. Initially huge, but quickly diminishing head. Vineous aroma with chocolate and marcipan. Chocolate and caramel in a vineous taste with hints of banana. Same goes wwith the finish. Medium- to fullbodied, alcohol stays hidden. A decent beer for a bargain.

Mahogany body, white head. Aroma of yeasty fruits. Lots of raisins. Some chocolate in background. Poor version of dubbel.
