2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 23, 2005
(Bottle 33 cl) Slightly hazy, pale golden beer with a bubbly head that collapses rather fast and vanishes completely. Slightly perfumy nose with typical notes of coriander. Light, fruity and fresh - with notes of citrus. A typical summer quencher and a very typical Belgian Wit if not exactly the most characterful. 220805
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sigmund (4164) - Tau, NORWAY - AUG 8, 2005
750 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Very pale colour, slightly hazy, large white head. Moderate but nice aroma of apples, citrus, coves and coriander. Very light bodied, thin mouthfeel. Flavour is dominated by a distinct acidity, probably provided by the sour Bramley apples, but there’s not much apple flavour beyond the acidity. Traditional witbier elements (coriander, orange peel) are very subdued. Minimal hops. Refreshing, but no masterpiece. Does not live up to its price.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Jeppe (2631) - Ølbutikken, DENMARK - AUG 1, 2005
Draught at the brewery. Small white head, hazy pale yellow body. German weissbier aroma (!) of wheat and yeast with tones of banana and citrus. Mild wheaty flavor with some fruityness and hints of white pepper. No sign of the apple juice. Dry, somewhat artificial and dissapointing.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Christian (9697) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 12, 2005
Unclear yellow, surprisingly little head for a wheat. Fresh aroma with some lemon. Very unremarkable flavour, some sweetness, some acidity. Would be a good thirst killer if it wasn’t priced like an exclusive after-dinner beer...
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Hansen (5435) - Assentoft, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2005
Witbier, expencive. Hoped fore something a bit special, but to me Bramley tastes like so many other witbiers, fresh but no cigar.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 stouby (3212) - Holbæk, DENMARK - JUL 4, 2005
Bottle, in GB.
Pale yellow, unclear, white head, mostly diminishing. No lacings.
Aroma moderate of malt, light of hops, light of yeast (orange, bergamotte and coriander) and apples. Flavor light sweet, moderate acidic.
Light body, watery, lively carbonated.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 PetetheMeat (621) - Hove, DENMARK - JUL 3, 2005
Pale golden, slightly unclear. Medium sized white head. Very small yeast deposit. Perfumy aroma. Yeast, coriander, bergamotte. Good carbonation. Mild somewhat malty sweet aroma. More coriander. Yeast´, notes of citrus. Pineapple? and, yes, green apples. Very watery yet oily palate. Overall true to its belgian aspirations, but very uncomplex.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Mads Langtved (2246) - Copenhagen K, DENMARK - JUN 25, 2005
Hazy orange, no head. Quite yeasty in all aspects. Apple is present in the finish. Quite fruity aroma. An average witbier.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 LoveCaissa (873) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 22, 2005
No way near Hoegaarden but nonetheless a fine Witbier. Hazy yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma was yeasty and acidic. Flavour was fruity (banana and mainly citrus) and very refreshing - perhaps with hints of cloves too.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 madsberg (8785) - Søborg, DENMARK - JUN 15, 2005
Bottled: Light yellow colour. Light unclear. Very small off white head. Aroma is sweet and sugary. Aroma and flavour is downtoned. Flavour of malt, yeast, spices, light orange and other citric notes. Is quite thin bodied and dies quickly on the palate.
