3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Grovlam (4108) - Copenhagen, - MAR 14, 2008
Bottle. # 08750, best before 21.06.06. [Courtesy of yespr] This was the tasting session where Jacobsen Vintage 1 was sampled. The Imperial Barley Wine could have been the base for the Vintage version, so it was nice to be able to compare the two vintage with the Imperial BW.
Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Somewhat clear light sparking and pale amber color. Comparing the color with the vintage, the Imperial was more pale. Aroma of bread, tasted malt, nutty, grainy, caramel. Over the palate came light notes of alcohol and what could appear as oxidized notes. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitter notes. Lingering bread like finish.
It felt like it could have been a watered down version of the vintage.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Habanero (1257) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK - APR 17, 2010
Bottled. Pours hazy, deep golden with an 1 1/2 finger high off-wite head, quickly dimnishing. Nose of caramel, vanilla and alcohol. Sweet flavour of caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, mildl roasted malt and prunes. Full bodied. Oily texture.. Ends up more dry with a little bitterness. This one has maneged the storage quite well. An OK brew.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 JensenTaster (1718) - DENMARK - OCT 15, 2009
(on bottle) Dark orange, small white head. Oxyged and moulded aroma. Sticky and allmost oily in the mouthfeel. A beer very much over the top and how can a 10.1% B.W be that? Again, Carlsberg makes me wonder........

Bottled. Tasting @ Kolding Bryglaug. Bottle 04986. 2003. Aroma is a bit dusty, sweetish, has raisin and is fruity. Slightly hazy, copper amber coloured with an off-white, thin head. Taste is sweet, bit dusty, sugary, vinous/porty, has raisin, fruits and some caramel malts. Is already a bit flat. So don’t age this one for more than 5 years.
