Commercial Description:
Original Dark Lager is brewed according to J.C. Jacobsen's original recipe. The colour is chestnut. It has a Hersbrucker hop aroma while the floor malted Munich malt adds a caramel character. The carbonisation is gentle and the hop bitterness is soft. Enjoy at 6-8º.

28-DEC-2009, bottle. Nice brown with high head. Roasted, actually also some hops, I did not expect that:-) Better than feared and one of the better dunkels.

Bottle. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a small. Sweetish, fruity aroma with malty overtones. Flavour is sweetish with some notes of citrus hops, although the latter drowns in a tart berry-like fruitiness. Sweet and bitter malty finish. A bit cloying. 16-12-09.

Bottle. 3 days past ’best before’. Pours a clear amber/brown with a small, light beige/brown head. Malty aroma with nutty notes and a faint but sharp touch. Fruity notes appear as it warms. Sweetish, fruity flavour with notes of nuts, plums and plastic. Fruity finish – feels a bit watery. Faint roasted notes. Notes of apple as it warms. Palate could be better. A dull beer. 18-09-07.

Brown chestnut with a low head. The flavour is nut-like wit a lot of malty caramel. Primarily sweet, but ending on a bitter note.

Pours clear dark golden with a frothy white head that vanishes. Aroma of plum, prune, vanilla. Taste is sweet caramel. Watery, syrupy mouthfeel. Not bad. (Sampled @ Nærbø Ølfestival 2009)

33cl bottle@ Rotterdam, Helsinki. Pours chestnut color as it says on the bottle, with a nice beige head. Mild hop aroma, toffee and malt flavor. Very easy to drink.

Ruby brown, filtered. Nice head, small bubbles. Rich malty aroma, some complexity. Some licorice. Too much alcohol . Too thin bodied. Nice beer. Purchased in SuperBrugsen.
