Nice dark brown pour at GABF. Tan head. Flavors of deeply roasted malt, some bitter chocolate, toasted cashews and toasted pumpernickel bread.

Draft pour at Fat Heads. Pours a darker brown to black with a khaki head of foam. The aroma has roast, leather, and toffee. Taste has an earthy bitterness to it that lasts quite a while. It actually reminds me a lot of a cigar. Enjoyable, but a little much on the tobacco front. I could do with less of that.

On draught at jafb, pitch black. Nose of roasted coffee and smoke. Taste of coffee, chocolate. Very smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler shared by Ray. Pours dark brown in color ith a small beige head. The aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, earthy with a light nutty character. The flavor is very straightforward for a stout; roasted malts, chocolate, earthy notes with a decent mouth feel for the style.

Growler shared by Ray. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium to heavy roasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted chocolate flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good and my expectations where met.

Growler to snifter (thanks Ray). Looks good; pitch black with beige lacing. Smells and tastes malty and roasty. Average on the palate. Decent.

4100th rating. Inadvertent. Pour from a growler shared by Ray- thanks again, Ray! Pours a hazy, deep brown color with a small beige head. Aroma is mostly roasty, with chocolate, earth, peanuts, and mushrooms. Flavor of roast, toasted brown sugar, nuts, and chocolate. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a roasty, dry mouthfeel. Solid stout. Straightforward flavor after a somewhat odd nose. Works for me.

Sample at the tasting room. Black pour with a medium thick and foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium body with a roasty character of coffee and malt, plus a touch of hops in the background. The finish is chocolate malt and coffee. Above average overall.

Dark beer out of the growler with a huge foamy brown head. Nose of lightly burnt grains. Sweet caramel with flavors of molasses, roasted grains, burnt toast, berry fruitiness, hints of campfire and a long green bitterness in the finish. Tastey stout and not too heavy to session.
