The warden of JailHouse Brewing Company Certifies this summer seasonal red ale to be your well-deserved reward for good behavior and expects you will find its enticing flavors and aromas may carry through the long, hard, days of summer. Conjugal Visit is a medium bodied American Red Ale with a nice bed of malt roastiness, complimented by a titillating smack of centennial and palisade hops. The slight linger of bitterness is a reminder that this may be the last Conjugal Visit for quite a while.

22 oz. bottle courtesy of dunn4040. Pours a mostly clear red with a large tan head that lasted until nearly mid-glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt and caramel with a few citrus notes as well. The flavor is malt and caramel, but only lightly sweet. Dries out a bit towards the finish and is less sweet. A bit of bread towards the finish. Mild bitterness. Medium bodied. No problems.

A different kind of Amber than I expected. Appearance was awesome followed by average aroma in the nose. Malt backbone, while present, didnt leave any trace of mild sweetness that I expect in an amber. Had a little too much Irish red going on, though jailhouse releasing this "summer" seasonal around st pattys day(2014) maybe is what they had in mind. Bottle says 8% alcohol which is bordering on Imperial Amber status which this brew is not. Not a bad beer, just an average brew with an identity crisis.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head and strings of lace. Aroma of roasted malt. Light body with flavors of caramel, sweet malt and a touch of hops. The finish is short and malty. Just average overall.

Pours sharp reddish orange with one finger sandstone tan head. Nose is citrusy and herbal, peanut hull and bready malt. Moderate bitterness, piney and sharp hop character. Straight peanut hull.

This is a full-bodied beer that is sweet and sticky. A bit of bread, toffee, and slightly spicy bananas. Weak aroma. Easy drinking and pretty decent for a red. Kind of funky if you’re calling this an amber ale.

Deep coppery red body with a tall, long lasting, off-white head. The aroma is fruit and light molasses. The flavor follows the aroma with the addition of some hop bitterness that adds to the malt sweetness and then becomes dominant in the finish.
