3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear cola brown. Very little head. On the lower side for carbonation, but not really under carbonated. Toasted nuts, slight roastiness like what you get in very light roast coffees. Leaves a slightly sour aftertaste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle. Cola colored, bubbly, with no head or lacing. The aroma is rye bread, molasses, peat, and black cherries. The flavor is sweet, sour, and faintly bitter. The palate is medium to heavy, sticky, syrupy, and a little astringent. Overall, this is a big, malty beer, with a good hop profile in the background.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle. Some thing lurking in the shadows, on the label. Pours oily, reddish-brown color. No head. No fizz. Aroma of toasted malts, liquid brown sugar, molasses, earth, and lager yeast esters. Tastes of burnt sugars, tart malts, toasted grains, burnt bread. Finishes with a little bit of cherry, chocolate malt, and alcohol burn. Thinner bodied than what most would anticipate. Exactly what I had expected from JailHouse and a Doppelbock.

Pours a dark amber with a small white ring. Aroma of dark cherries and grapes. Sweet malts on the nose. Taste like a carbonated wine. Very alcoholy. Hints of spice and floral. Lots of dry dark fruits. Dry lingering finish.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strong, malty aroma has an earthy overtone and firm hints of cloves and caramel. Pours a clear warm sepia with a fizzy and none too persistent tan head. Rich flavor fills the mouth with malty, earthy and nutty notes plus hints of chocolate, caramel and cloves. Texture has good body, but fizz leaves something to be desired. This, however, is the beer’s only weak spot. Overall, an arresting doppelbock.

22oz bottle. my bottle say’s 7% abv. pours a clear deep garnet with no head. nose of tobacco, dark chocolate, vinous notes, cherry and toast. flavor of toast and cocoa. medium bodied, but with a slick mouthfeel. leaves a burnt toast finish...even gritty and ashy.
