3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A- Light, toasty, chocolate.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, minimal head.
T- Roasty, slightly malty, subtle chocolate.
P- Medium body, thin texture, soft carbonation, smooth finish.
O- Not too memorable. Not a bad brown ale, but lacking a lot of qualities. A little on the thin side too. The flavor is good, but not great. Itís almost there.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Needs more flavor, aroma, body. You know, just more of everything. This beer was just too thin. By nature, brown ales tend to me mild. Still, this one is far too much of a minimalist to recommend.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle - Pours deep dark brown with a thin light tan head. Nose is toasted dark bread, mellow yeastiness, muted caramel, some plastic. Yeah, not all that great. Taste is mineral and dry dark bread, slightly toasted with some metallic notes, a little plastic, and a hint of chocolate. Finishes dry and slightly yeasty. Thin and watery, with limp carbonation.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Nose is light and toasty, with a slight bit of bitterness in there and an every so slight bit of roasting. Taste is a little bitter and slightly burnt, like some over-roasted coffee. Meh.

I donít usually like brown ales (or brown eyes for that matter). Did I like this? Not so much. I would think gargling with battery acid would be worse.......or not. Just kidding...this stuff is GREAT (not). If Val Blatz didnít make brown ales, why should anyone else? An exercise in futility. Stick with Blatz & your brown eye will thank you in the morning.

Rich, brown-red body with a medium beige head. Decent lacing. Aroma is faint roast toffee with subtle nutty sweetness. Flavor is similar, fairly lighter than expected.
