Chai Tea and Porter have finally hooked up. Why Not? Seriously bold flavors of Ginger, Cinnamon, Clove, Cardamom, Anise combined with a six-malt blend, make this a hands-down discovery in beer. What is a Dhaba, anyway? We’ll give you a hint, think of India.

Pours clear cola brown with a minimal, creamy beige head. Aroma is mostly chai spice, seems a little overboard on the cardamom, a little dark caramel and crystal malt-like sweetness. Flavor is loaded with spice again, but starts off nice and promising, very much chai-like with a light caramel backbone and a hint of black malt that seems to not mix well with some of the spices as by the finish there is a bitter, spicy, woody bitterness, that just doesn’t do much for me. Light to medium body with a sugary feel and medium-heavy, soda-like carbonation. Not very good. Honestly, if I did a blind taste test on this I might think it was some sort of weird spiced Birch/Root Beer experimental soda. That would be fine, except that it really isn’t very good to boot, not really bad, but not all that beer like.

Can. Pours a near clear deep amber brown with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is full of sweet dark grains with a good amount of marshmallow and chai coming through. Flavor is similar with sweetness from chai, dark grains and marshmallow, but the are counter balanced by a bit of roast.

12oz can 4/6/14 (Binny’s Downers Grove Mix A Six)-42° in English Pint-Pours a dark brown with ruby tints and a small off white head. Aroma of sweetness, chocolate and a mix of things I can’t describe. Taste of chocolate, spices, cinnamon, and ginger. This light bodied brew is a mix of mess but is easy drinking and something different.

Pours a dark reddish brown, almost black with a good head & lace.

The aroma is chocolate & potpourri. Gingery, clove forward, weird.

Holy wow is that one sweet spice forward mess... Cloves & ginger.... Mild cinnamon.... Light roastiness, massively cloying.... Silly.

This beer is pretty much the least surprising thing ever. It tastes like sweet chari tea with a porter or brown ale hanging in the background. Given that neither of the two halves of this dubious combo is particularly good, it is not particularly good overall. If you are looking for a beer that’s sweet and sticky and tastes like cloves, you are in luck but if you are a regular person, you might want to pass.

Cinnamon aroma and flavor. Slight chai flavor as well. Cinnamon finish. Not a huge fan, could only drink just one.

12 oz can. Nice rich dark amber pour with a smaller cream-colored head. Aroma is cardamom, pumpkin spices, cinnamon, ginger, clove - pretty cool. Finishes a bit dry like a tea. Taste is pretty good but not quite as interesting and the aroma. Not bad.

12 oz. can pours a dark brown with big tan head and good lacing. Aroma is full of spices (ginger, pumpkin, mint, cardamom - I’ve never had chai tea) and nutty. Taste is sweet all the way through. Body is medium with slight carbonation. I wouldn’t have guessed this is a porter, but it’s interesting, refreshing, and easy to drink.

A great tasting fusion of the beer and chai. Not overly heavy chai taste but a good balance. Very smooth. Appearance is a very dark misguided look. A must try at least once. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
