3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Portland hotel, Melbourne. Reasonable head which lasted through. Copper colour, mild carbonation. An inkling of hops to offset mostly malty taste.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: A nice and deep red-amber colour. Reasonable amount of white head (2 cm) which disappears a little too fast. Small amount of lacing down the glass.
Aroma: Subdued caramel, toffee, and malt. Not a lot here to write about, as each time I have tried this beer it has had a literal lack of smell.
Taste: Malt and toffee, a little bit of zest and fruit. Enough bitters to balance the malt, but still on the mild side.
Mouthfeel: A bit too carbonated, as it detracts a bit from the flavours, but otherwise acceptable.
Drinkability: Quite easy to drink, and one that I could (and do) have regularly. That being said, itís not a beer to savour or to think too much about. Itís a nice BBQ lunch beer, where your mind is on other things.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance - Copper, Amber colour. Light carbonation. Zero head retention. Great clarity
Smell - Light hop, dark fruits, cherry and plumb
Taste - Light hop & malt, dark fruit, woody, flavour with slight dryness. Bitter finish
Mouthfeel - Good carbonation, medium body
Drinkability - Light beer properly carbonated, drinkable
Overall - Better that the other James Squire beers, however still not one I would return to. Generic beer with little character
Printed on the side of the bottle :
Hand-crafted with Pale & Crystal malts & distinctive hops for a long, slightly nutty finish, this Ale writes another page in the glorious & enigmatic life of James Squire

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a very dark bronze amber with small off white head. Falls away super quickly lookking somewhat lifeless. Aromas dominated by cereal malt. Flavours sow plenty of malt sweetness with just a touch of hop bitterness on the finish. Thinnish mouthfeel.

2.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
A crisp quality brew, a little cloudy and difficult to get a good head on it.
Long average after taste.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured dark amber with moderate off-white head that didnt last. Aroma of dry bready malt. Tast of toasted wheat and a nutty quality that I enjoyed. Thin/watery on palate which let it down. One of the íbestí beers often available on tap... has saved me from consuming other swill.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a disappearing white head. Aromas of toffee, caramel and malts. Some hops in the taste but mainly malts and toffee notes. Pretty thin. Not an awful lot going on here but defs better than the golden ale

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to Caitlin. Pours a clear amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice sweet earthy grain note with a cereal backing. Flavor is similar with earthy sweet grains throughout and a bit of cereal and hay in the finish.
