Dawghouse Brewers99 (91), Exeter, California, USA Dec 14, 2001 Loose head over a dark ruby colored beer leaves interesting lacing on the glass. Roasty chocolaty aroma. Great roasty flavor but don’t really like the hop selection for this beer. Really a perfect looking beer. Medium bodied. Someone went through a lot of work preparing this beer. Good work on this one!
esjaygee (721), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 14, 2008 Mahogany with a medium tan head that fades away. Aroma of cocoa, molasses, sweet and roasted malts. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malts and molasses. Creamy and thin to start out with leading way to a mild bitter finish that ends up slightly chalky and astringent. So-so porter but the bottle I had was quite old (5-31-05), so perhaps that had an effect on it. Pyobon (137), Sydney, Australia Apr 30, 2008 Bottle. Poured clear dark brown with reddish tint. No head. Very little aroma - mainly dark / roasted malt with a hint of something interesting - maybe smoky. Medium body with quite a lot of carbonation, especially for the style. The flavour is very much dominated by dark roast malt. There is some interesting short-lived fruitiness in the start and some bitterness in the finish. Overall, its drinkable. I have to admit porter is not a favourite style. Then again, this strikes me as not particualrly faithfull to that style. JohnnyOS (610), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Apr 27, 2008 Pours dark brown with tan head. Aroma of malt, yeast and caramel. Flavor to match. nate2g (49), Brisbane, Australia Apr 24, 2008 Bottle. Brown with tanned head. Roasted malts, rich yeasty aroma. Similar flavours of roasted malt, caramel and cocoa. Dry finish.
