Just a little extra above the mass of mainstream beers in Oz.. Nothing here to make me buy any more.

Tap (Barney Allenís). Orange, tight white head. When really cold - as it was served - itís pretty much like any vaguely decent Australian lager. Thereís a bit more body from well-defined malt and upon a bit of warming, thereís some earthy and citrus hops on the nose. If you look at it as an alternative to VB itís good (and I guess thatís what they were going for) but this is nothing much.

Mjollnir (384) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - JAN 2, 2010
345mL bottle. Pours a clear sparkling pale gold with a fine head that settles and leaves a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is floral, grainy and bready. Flavours are quite subdued, but reasonably well balanced. Light body with average carbonation, and quite thin on the palate. The finish is also subdued and leaves a bit of disappointing metallic aftertaste.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2010 From a 345ml bottle on 30/12/2009. Has a floral aroma, and a pleasant and quite distinctive sweetish, citrus fruit flavour, with some restrained bitterness. One of the best James Squire standards, this is a nice sessional brew. Pleasing to see it increasingly available on tap around the traps.

Bottle. From Tommy for Christmas. Pours a deep amber rather than golden colour. Small rocky head that feel away pretty quikcly. Some lacing. Sweet malt aromas with a little honey and some floarl hop notes. Flavours are biscuty malt with some home. A little hop initially with more hops and some bitterness near the end. Not too bad.

Golden. The aroma is woody, hoppy with a light malt toastiness. Light body and character with a mild, woody American hop accent, light fruitiness and chewy, slightly toasty malts.

Bottle acquired in Phnom Penh. Dark golden amber, small head. Earthy hop aroma is also spicy. Quaffable and thirst-quenching. Herbal tea qualities. Tea leaves. Not special but good stuff.

Clear light amber colour. Passionfruit and fruit hop character. Fresh, clean flavour with good malt hop balance. I honestly donít know what most of those below are describing, this is a good, hop driven summer ale that is way better than most Aussie beers.

Bottle. Pours with an average white dense frothy head over a clear amber-orange body. Pleasant hop aromas of pine-citrus -tastes of same with a moderate bitter finish. Nice.
