Sully (1363), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia Aug 9, 2005 Good on them for doing a beer of this style. Wouldn’t it ihave been great if it actually tasted like the style. murky, mudy stagnant, this has more in commmon with a pond than beer. Evrything about the beer is unexciting DuffMan (1915), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 23, 2005 Wow, people really beat the crap out of this beer! I quite liked it, thought it my favourite out of the Jamieson selections that I tried. Pours a dark brown with medium head that doesn’t last very long. Roasty malt aroma with some fruity tones, all of which carry over on the palate. No real criticism from me, I quite liked it. I agree that it doesn’t really fit what I might expect of a "dark wheat", but good nontheless. Linc (736), Sydney, Australia Dec 14, 2004 I don’t know why they bother to make this beer and a brown ale, very similar they are. Sweet malt, aroma of carbon dioxide (overcarbonated). No character. Dredd (348), Ormond, Australia Nov 28, 2004 apart from a slightly flat mouth feel, this beer is quite nice with great burnt malts and enough bitternes to balance but not overpower. Stew41 (860), Caulfield, Australia Oct 12, 2004 Updated: Jan 28, 2005I think this is now called the Mountain Ale? Medium chocolate brown, pours a good fizzy head early but settles fairly quickly. Sweet chocolate malt on the nose. Pretty good in the mouth; more chocolate malts round the profile out nicely. Fizzy finish. Lacks a bit of seriousness but a fairly decent effort. A much lighter beer than the ’old’ version and IMHO a better drink.
