COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jamieson Raspberry Ale has real Raspberries added at the fermenter to give the beer a distinct flavour. Colour is that of a pale ale but does have a pink tinge and good carbonation. Raspberry is the aroma and Raspberry is the first flavour on the tip of the tongue. Mid palate is a light biscuit malt flavour and has a dry thirst quenching finish.

Out of the several Aussie and Kiwi fruit beers I’ve tried, this was the best. Merc’s Own Peach Ale had no trace of peach in it at all, and Monteith’s Lemon-Lime Radler was overpoweringly citrused. This beer hit it right-- nice raspberries in the aroma, but more balanced on the palate with a good malt base and a slightly bitter finish. Very refreshing on a hot summers day, but if I were going to tuck into a dozen while watching the footy, I’d choose something a little more conventional as the fruit may get old after the first few bottles.

Pours a light red with a thin head. Strong aroma of rasperries. Taste is the same with a slight bitter finish. Average fruit beer.

Bottle 330ml. Very good beer. Intense aroma of raspberry, with a hint of caramel. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and average duration. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a thin head.

Pours dark amber with a persistent small head. Raspberry is quite dominant on the nose, with some sweet caramel malt just noticeable underneath. Less raspberry shows as a flavour, instead a pronounced harsh chalk, bleach and cement note is present. Some sweet malt lingers, but that harsh chemical note ruins everything.

Hazy gold with a slight red tinge. Bright, tight white head. Smells strongly of fresh raspberries. Taste is very slightly sweet. Dry finish. Real raspberry flavour. Not super complex, but hardly one-dimensional. Nicely integrated flavours. The pattern of ratings for this beer suggest that it has changed for the better.

From a 330ml bottle on 10 January 2010. This cloudy brew’s nose is (not surprisingly) all raspberries. Lots of raspberry in the flavour too, but not too much else seems to be going on with it. The label states that it’s ’Anything but sweet’ and that’s quite accurate - it has a moderate, lingering sour, bitter finish. This is a bit of a weird beer, quite interesting and worth a try, but is a little too one dimensional for me to get enthused about.

Bottle. Cloudy amber/brown liquid. Mild carbonation, small head that disappeared within 20 seconds. Raspberry aroma. Raspberry taste (jam) with a biscuit taste. Not bad at all, would buy this one again!

330ml bottle. Honey coloured with a rose tinge and complex dense tan like head. Well carbonated with a sweet raspberry aroma that is no surprise. Raspberry flavour tickles the tongue and leaves a long aftertaste with a smooth crisp finish.

Neat head good carbonation orange/gold coloured pour aroma strong raspberry maltiness like toffee, tartness.Flavour nice smooth malt of biscuit tastes settles the ale,it has a fizz on the tongue,a vanilla touch goes well with the raspberry, not my style but will mark to suit, finish smooth sweet, malty light fizz.

Bottle. Pours amber with a medium white head. An initial hit of fresh raspberries in the aroma, which slowly diminished and made way for the biscuit malt. The flavour reminded me of scones with raspberry jam and cream. I’m not saying that’s a great thing for this beer though. It’s pleasant in a ’oh they’ve added fresh raspberries to the beer, that’s cool’ kind of way but I could never see myself wanting to come back to this beer again. I’m glad I tried this but one bottle is more than enough.

...bottle. Pours a clear sparkeling red with a very fizzy white head that dies out quiclky. Aromas are mostly rasberries, and some yeast, with hints of vanilla. Flavor is mainly the same, with a fizzy mouthfeel, but goes down well and is very refreshing. My wife loves this one, but I like it too. It’s a well done beer for the style, tastes very natural. Balanced, with a dry rasberry finish. Worth trying, and better than the ratings of others suggest.
