Almost black colored with mild red tones. Hoppy, bitter and dry aroma with some sweet caramel tones, maybe some herbs come up too. Flavor is rich with roasted coffee, herbs and endig turns out to be strongly dry, herbal taste giving nice character. Good brew, still expected more out of this.

Dark brown opaque body topped with a lasting beige creamy head. Nice malty aroma with strong roasted coffee hints. Well-balanced taste dominated by the coffeeish flavor. Strong bitter finish. If this is the beer they drink in Heaven, then I hope I’ll get up there when I die!

Tap@sbwf’13. Dark brown, black. Dark roasty malts with a good deal of honey flavour. Lightish body, easy drink. Interesting honey / roasty combo though.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Almost black color with a small head. Body is medium to light. Taste is coffee and roasted malts with a bit of dare I say hoppiness? Somehow, it’s just a bit tart. Carbonation is a bit crisp but the flavors don’t meld all that well.

50cL bottle, courtesy of omhper. Thanks, Per! Pours a very deep dark mahogany color; bright off-white head with creamy, medium-sized bubbles (almost like milk froth) with textured, thin lacing. Plenty of nougat and lightly roasted malts in the aroma; cocoa powder and chocolate; sweet without being sticky. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of cocoa and milk chocolate and nougat; a warm vanilla note permeates the mid-palate, with a bready note, and slight citrus adding some nice acidity. Lengthy, doughy and vanilla finish; ends quite soft (think: cloud).

Coffee, chocolate and more coffee. Darkest brown, fair toffee head. Roasted malt flavour, good bitterness follows. Complex, feels like a Belgian. Smooth, with hints of fruit and nuts. Fabulous Beer!

RateBeer Summer (Toronto) ’02: IMHO one of the best beers at RateBeer ’02. Molasses aroma with some deep hops, brown color, super long aftertaste. Very bold and complex. An aptly named brew.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
50 cl bottle. Tasted at home. No yeast at the bottom. Reddish dark brown colour with a nice fine head. Light aroma of roastedness, maltness and little fruit. Very tasty flavour with notes of roasted malt, and with a sour touch, maybe from the roasted malt. Very dry at the end, but well balance between the hops and thr roasted finish.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2004 Sampled from draught at Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2004 (#50).
Dark brown beer with a fine brown head. Sweet and full aroma of malt, chocolate and caramel with creamy and Jämtland yeasty notes. Mostly sweet in the flavor, roasted malty with spice, hop and fruit. Tasty and well-balanced and really smooth. A beer I could drink again and again.
