Dark mahogany hued ale, subtley spiced with what tastes like cinnamon and orange zest, but also with good dark malt character and the trademark earthy hoppiness and notes of cocoa. A little sweeter than your average Jamtlands.

Maria (10176) - Thisted, DENMARK - APR 1, 2007
Vintage 2006. Dark amber with a red hue and a nice creamy head. The aroma is hoppy and spicy with notes of malt. The flavour has nice hoppy notes and a good bitterness, notes of fruit, roasted malt and caramel. Sadly also a bit of alcohol, that brings the flavour a slightly out of balance, and makes it a bit edgy and not as harmonic as the other lovely Jämtland beers. But it’s quite nice anyhow. 1837

Bottled, BB 03/07. Poured a really cool shade of clear garnet with a medium, well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, lightly-spiced English toffee and caramel notes.. rather dusty overall, with very good dark fruit coming through with warmth. The flavor shows quite a bit of degredation.. sour oxidation notes had a rather vinous quality.. toffee and some spices at the core.. finished with some sour cardboard and dark fruit. Medium-bodied and sour on the palate, but you could tell that this was good deep down.

500 ml bottle. Dark brown colourl. Clear. Small white fine-laced head. Toffee-like aroma with hints of raisins and chocolate. Hints of pepper. Smooth texture. Rich malty flavours. Slightly roasted, but mostly dark sweet malts. Low on the hops, except for a little dry hop bitterness in the finish.

It poured a very dark, clear, red liquid with a large beige foam that left a nice lacing. Weak smell of bread and spices. A hint of ginger, but it was hard to pinpoint the different spices as they where quite subtile. My guess is it was a mix of dried orange peels, ginger and cloves. Fairly smooth mouthfeel with a medium body. Taste of caramell, dark bread and spices. Once again I’m leaning towards cloves and ginger. Not a bad beer but it gets a bit lost in the competition at the moment.

Mörkt rödbrun öl med smutsvitt gräddigt skum. Doft av rostad malt, bränt socker och mörkt bröd. Söt maltig smak med inslag av torkad frukt. Lätt rostade toner. Går bra till julbordet

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Very dark brown, almost black with a rather small head and rather low carbonation. Top-fermented and very malty with a good bitterness and an underlying sweetness. Very full-bodied. Actually reminds me of a Belgian "Dubbel". 090603
