Bottle. Very dark brown, with a thick, beige head. Roasted malt aroma, with coffee and dark chocolate, and dried fruits. No perceptible sweetness, rather dry finish.

rbesg, bottle at plain kitchen. deep shade of blackish purple. salty chocolate aroma. quite thich and porridgey, reminds me of my grandfather’s porridge which he used to put a teaspoon of salt in but also reminds me of czech style porridge with some semolina and butter and cocoa powder. some lactic sourness rounds it out nicely

Black body, big off-white creamy head. Aroma is toasted, of olives, caramel, smocked. Flavor is dryish, bitter, some sweetness, flowey and hoppy notes.

Thanks to <a href=http://ratebeer.com/View-User-2778.htm> Omhper for this one!.

Bottle. Dark ruby colour against a lamp. Stable light brown head. A rather nice aroma, slightly roasted with dark bread and hops. Bigger flavour than I had expected. Tar & coffee, a bit salt and malty. Quite long finish with a medium bitterness.

Panzerfaust (539) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - JAN 26, 2007
Pours an opaque dark brown color with burgundy hues. Head is big, beige and frothy. It diminishes slowly and leaves a thin film. Aroma is very well balanced with malty and hoppy presence sharing equal parts. There are notes of toasted cereal grains, smoke, clove, pine, resin, grapefruit and chocolate with truffles. Flavor is bitter, smokey and with a good kick in the end. It shows dark coffee, bitter chocolate over more truffles and licorice. Impressive for a 4,8% ABV. Body is medium with a hoppy finish of bitter herbs. Texture is oily and the alcohol was not present at all. Medium carbonation. This is a strong beer for its ABV but at the same time very drinkable. Excellent.

Many thanks to <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/View-User-2778.htm> for this bottle.

50cl bottle from omhper - thanks Per! Deep ruby/brown with a big beige head that disintegrates rockily. Roasty nose, tobacco, baking chocolate, lightly smoky. Thick beige lace. A bit thin in the body. Weaker flavor than expected, lightly toasty malt, mild chocolate. Good, but not great.

Maria (9570) - Thisted, DENMARK - JAN 3, 2007
Brown-black with a delicious, creamy head. The aroma has nice notes of roasted malt. The flavour is smooooooth and yet bitter, and it has notes of licorice, chocolate, a hint of smoke, nuts, roasted malt and hops. The finish has a nice bitterness and notes of licorice, roasted malt and coffee. I had forgotten one in my cellar for 2 years - and it was even better. The chocolate was stronger than the coffee and licorice, and it has a wonderful smooth and delicious body...

MiP (12145) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - DEC 25, 2006
Draught. Almost black colour, small light brown head. The flavour is a bit bready and thin for porter. But it does have flavour, a little hop aroma. Roasted barley bitterness in the aftertaste.

Fukito (682) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - DEC 15, 2006
Bottle - December 2006. Thanks (again) Omhper for this one! Pours a crystal clear deep black-brownish color with a nice, big, "cuneiform" and permanent light tan head, remains till the end of my pint leaving lacing behind. Aroma is slight coffee, toffees, coke, some cacao. Nice. Taste is some raisins, cacao, subtle notes of of nuttiness, bittersweet. Hop bitternes at the end. Gentle, but deep and layered. Mouthfeel is light to medium. Smooth, silky texture, very quaffable and quenching. Dense but fluid at the same time. Nice, layered, interesting and approachable session porter. Great.

Bottle at RBESG 2006. Quite nice, but didn’t see anything to lift it above the other quality porters out there. All essentials there though, politely doing their thing.
