Stuffed deer heads on walls are bad enough, but it’s worse when you see them wearing dark glasses, having streamers around their necks and a hat on their antlers. Because then you know they were enjoying themselves at a party when they were shot.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jbruner (1117) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 1, 2013
Pours a clear reddish brown from the bottle with thin tan head and little to no lacing. Aroma of oatmeal, doughy bread, and slight soy sauce. Taste follows, add a bit of nut brown malt and some toasted barley. Thin on the mouth and easy to drink, but that’s to be expected with the abv. This has a lot better rating than I felt it deserves, nothing special.

500mL thanks to blomster. Pours a clear deep red with a whiter head than expected. Good formation and webbier lacing. Nose is sweet lemon tea, mild smoke, soy, cantaloupe, saltwater. Odd combination. Taste is very light, thin with lemon tea, ash, harsher metallic notes. A bit doggy/wet dog in aroma. Clean palate but thin and tea like. Not what I was expecting :/

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 thedm (4773) - Fort Wayne, USA - FEB 23, 2013
This bottled brew from a rating party poured a head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a no visible carbonation hazy brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a mellow mild malty aftertaste. The smooth flavor contained notes of mild nut brown malt and bread dough. An OK brew just nothing special.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bergstaden (699) - Røros, NORWAY - JAN 28, 2013
Dark brown with light brown head - Roasted malt aroma - Good roasted malt body with some bitterness from the roasted malt - Long lingering roasted malt bitter finish - this was good
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Atom (987) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 28, 2012
Bottle thanks to blomster, pours a dark brown/black with a slight amber hue and a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, pepper, oats, slight roast, and a mild bitter tobacco. Light thin texture, taste of milk chocolate, bitter dry hops, fruits, pepper, and finishing with mild mellow leather and tobacco. Damn solid Porter!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 callmemickey (1335) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 15, 2012
Deep brown-black body, massive off-white head, dense lacing. Nose is roast, caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, and oats. Flavor is similar, with a bit of that Sam Smith Taddy Porter twang. Medium to full bodied, assertive, but appropriate carbonation, nice malty finish. If Sam Smith Taddy Porter and Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout got together and made a baby--this would be it. Thanks _angst_!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (5545) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 15, 2012
b>In short: A big velvety roasted oatmeal stout with a light smoky twist
How: Bottle 500ml at Ölstugan 1892 Tullen, Göteborg Sweden, and later a bottle given to me by _angst_, thanks a lot Alex
The look: Near black body topped by a medium tan head
In long: Nose is very roasted bringing a light smoky sensation, freshly baked angel cake, fresh tobacco leafs, milk chocolate. Taste has the typical roasted oatmeal stout velvety full round body, vanilla black cookies, burnt toasts and milky notes (milk chocolate), tobacco. The roast really adds a light smoky sensation. Well hopped with an English-style leafy hops. Mild bitter finish with a bit of acidity. Pleasant full velvety mouthfeel typical of Oatmeal stouts. Nothing I haven’t had before but this is a very enjoyable example of the style. Yet another bottle of beer, apparently it is a normal reaction to drink when facing a depressing situation, seems like I find sobriety depressing.
