COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When the Swedish state beer shop asked for a well hopped, whole malt lager for the Spring season, naturally we thought: "we can do that!!" Our spring beer is called VALBORG which is also the name of the May festival in Sweden. Up here in Jämtland the days are getting longer and lighter and we`re longing for the snow to melt so we can put away our snow scooters and get out the mopeds! St Valborg was a german abbess who was canonised in 779. The roots of the festival, however, go back to pagan times. Spring was a time for fertility rituals and bonfires to scare away evil spirits. As a homage to St. valborg we have used only German hops from the famous Hallertau region. The malt is Pilsner malt with a touch of caramel malt. The result is a sparkling light lager that should suit all tastes. To protect your fertility we recomend sensible drinking of Jämtlands Valborg. Blond beer with a medium head. The aroma is mainly toffee with hints of fruit. The taste is light bitter and quite sweet. This is again an excellent brew from Pilgrimstad.

Bottle (rating from 2005). Clear golden colour with a fast receding white head. Weak hoppy aroma. Light malty flavour with low bitterness. Not the best beer this brewery has offered...

Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized foamy head. Honey and hops in aroma along with some sweetish malts. Smooth honeyish malty flavour with nice hoppy finish. Very wellbalanced.

The aroma is somewhat reminiscent of chamomile or some similar flower, I wonder if that’s just because of the illustration on the label... but there is a little bit of clover honey on the nose too. Similar flavours upon tasting, with a well rounded light malt profile a touch of honey and a smooth very slightly buttery finish. Easy drinking, with a definite touch of spring. Thanks Per!

A hazy orange beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy, while the flavor is sweet and slightly floral combined with the hoppyness and with a dry hoppy end.

Thin fluffy snow white head, clear golden body. Pretty full hoppy and creamy aroma, mostly sweet. Buttery and creamy in the flavor with tones of hop and flower. Fresh and full and a nice lager. Rather sweet, but has a good bitterness behind the sweetness.

(Bottled) Hazy deep golden color with a small but firm head. Very toffee-malty, sweetish aroma with a mildly aromatic hop character. Crisp, hoppy flavor with butter and lots of balancing, sweetish malt. Some salty roastiness, too. Medium-bodied, slicky palate with balanced carbonation. A very tasty, full-bodied and earthy brew. This is a true "premium lager"!
