Zythos 2009. My first beer, still able to taste the subtleties this has to offer. Lemon grass hop aroma. Nice layers of bitterness but really mildly pronounced only.

Bottle after a disapointing pour of Fantome La Dalmatienne. 75cl bottle from Alvinne shop, thanks for the recomendation Glenn. Clear, light straw, almost golden yellow color with nice medium to large white head. Aroma is slightly grainy, citrus hops, typical biere de garde aroma. Flavor is yeast, grain, citrus hops, orange, somewhat grassy. Medium to light, fizzy body. I don’t know how this is not considered a biere de garde. It is more hoppy than a typical saison/biere de garde though. Very sessionable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 20, 2009 75cl bottle at home, iRate: first glass pours very clear polished gold with tall fading white head. Nice spicy and hoppy (mainly grassy) aroma. Citrus peel and yeast blend in perfectly. Slight mineral and pale malt. Yeast character is quite powerful, but smooth. Faint toasted bread adds some more complexity. Flavor starts out with a grainy spice before a nice deep hop bitterness rolls in. Spice is there throughout and gets stronger towards the finish. Lightly bready. Grassy and lightly metallic hop finish with dried dark spices and alcohol on the back of the throat. Medium mouthfeel with dry finish. Quite enjoyable. A new classic.

Bottle. Hazy golden with a steady head. Intensely fruity aroma with orange zest and pears. Orange zest and spices flavours, the latter steadily more towards the finish. Medium body. A bit spicy, but quite enjoyable.

Cloudy urine colored like when you have a bladder infection. Aroma is better than that, though. Flavor is lightly spiced with a slightly bitter, dry finish.
