4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours deep gold into a tulip. Fluffy white conglomerate head recedes leaving spotted sheets. Dusty lemon and caramel aromas. Crisp with upfront sharp fruity hops and marshmallow turning back to a lasting bitter finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2009 Bottled at Belgobaren, Stockholm. Cloudy golden, small head. Rich hoppy grapefruit aroma. Dry and fairly light bodied. Minerally with slight almondy yeast character. Freshly hoppy with grapefruit and seville orange marmlade. Finishes with medium bitterness. Belgian style yeast and attentuation and Amercan style hops is a winning concept! This is good, and very drinkable.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at 3rd Brugs BF. Hazy yellow colour, dense white head. Aroma of funk, a bit of dung in there, passionfruit, light flowery. Flavour is dry and fruity, grapefruit and passionfruit, hay, zesty, yeast, good dryness all around ending in a nice bitter finish. Medium to fullbodied. Beer of the festival for me, excellent stuff.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle, slight cloudy golden hue, with an off-white head, but leaving some lacing, yeasty, fruity nose of pineapples, mangoes, pears sand apples, with a floral herb, flower petal, lavender note, with some faint honeyed pale, bready dough aromas follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, flowery petal character of lavender, jasmine, with some citrusy, limey, leafy hop accents, leading towards a juicy lemon peel, zesty, hop leafy dry bitterness finish.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 mL bottle, capped...fairly fresh: clear straw, turning hazy towards the bottom of the bottle. Striking ivory head, very generous and fairly dense. Wonderful floral aroma with a dusty, fruity barnyard presence. Instant classic in my mind: dry, funky aroma paired with yeasty baked bread and sweet, overripe bananas, pears and mushy apples. Mouthfeel and texture is pure and simple: soft on the tongue with a slight tingle in the back of the mouth. Extremely dry finish, with a long, bitter, yeasty, fruity flavour...exactly what it should be in my view. Well done!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2009 In short: A Saison archetype. Dry, wild, floral, highly drinkable. Pleasantly straightforward.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed when probably around 6 months of age.
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose is sharp and wild, walking in a dusty attic with white pepper. Taste is really Saison. A bouquet of dead flowers, dusty attic, some grapefruits, some lemon skin, dandelions, dried bananas. The finish is very dry and mildly bitter and leaves a construction wood sensation. The beer is not very tasty (as should be a Saison) but this is a beer that exemplifies the Saison style and I’m a Saison head. Now, what happened to Jandrain-Jandrenouille I, II & III? Why start at IV? Star Wars producers did something similar when they debuted their franchise with Episode IV and it didn’t prove very successful now did it?

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle. A hazy dark golden beer with a large, almost creamy, fully lating and lacing white head. The aroma is nicely hoppy with a good malt background and notes of flowers, herbs, orange, lemon, grapefruit, pineapple, some spices. The flavour is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Again, like the VCense a cross between Belgian and American school. Near medium body, lively carbonation, vry long finish with medium to high bitterness. I’d have preferred a more strong body and this is not the best season to enjoy this kind of stuff, but this beer is great and balanced.

Bottle@Home. Well balanced but not very expressive. Except for the bitterness pretty clean. High drinkability.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2010 Growler from Capone’s. Clear, slightly hazy yellow pour with a thin white head. Crisp malt aroma with hints of honey. Very floral with some grassy hops. Funky yeasty flavor. Slightly sweet with honey. Notes of brett and cereal. Nice hoppy finish. Crisp, easy to drink. Fantastic saison.
