75cl bottle (at the bargain price of £7) at the Sportsman, Hudds. It pours golden yellow with a bubbly white head. The nose is straw, hay, dough, spice, green apple, white grape and apricot. The taste is straw, earth, spice, moderate bitterness, dough, citrus fruits, apple, pear and vinous apect with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Elegent, well rounded and readily consumable.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 bartlebier (448) - Baden-Württemberg, GERMANY - APR 12, 2013
75cl bottle - Spectacularly balanced fresh saison that pretty much comes close to my ideal beer for the spring, summer and warm and thirsty days in between. Almost a perfect blend of a saison (dry, subtle, simple), wit (cloudy, coriander) and I/PA (I kid you not, is that Citra and/or Amarillo in the aroma or just added zest?).
Ideal smooth mouthfeel, citrus and spicy yeast, taste develops considerably with temperature, increasing bitterness and decreasing fruitness on pouring the yeast remnant towards the end of the bottle. Leaves behind Dupont as austere and metallic compared to this liquid citrus flower of a beer. Not a bad introduction for this microbrewery previously unknown to me: looking forward to I-III and V.

This beer came across so well and strongly in a sampling of mixed styles - nicely floral aroma and deeper bittersweet taste afterwards. Darker golden ale with a good full body that repays savouring. In this session we sipped beers from 4 countries and over a wide range of styles - this was THE outstanding beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 maekchu (1081) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 7, 2013
Bottle from (I think) Hop City in Atlanta, Stored for a year or so. Honey, yeast, sugar, and light pear and peach aroma, with a very little bit of funk. Hazy honey color, with a solid rocky wghite head and lots of lively carb rising. Getnle fruity initial: some lemon and grass / honey settles in mid palate / very refreshing finish that has small trails of bitterness. Thin-medium body. Very tasty, thirst-quenching stuff. Good farmhousey character. Unfortunately, there was some rust on the edges of the bottle cap and the lip of the bottle, and there was a little note of oxidation.

Tap in Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Light yellow in colour, obviously with a huge head. Lightly hoppy, slightly spritzy mouth feel, fruity, medium dry. Quite clean, not as much of a yeasty feel as I’d perhaps been looking for. Nice but unexceptional.

A hazy light yellow gold pour with a somewhat floral and citrus aroma and a little bitter bite and lemon in the taste. Pretty darn good.

On tap @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Slightly unclear yellow/golden body with a white head. Aroma is mild fruity with yeast and “soapy” spices. Flavor is much the same, light pale malt, hint of fruit, yeast and feels soapy. Medium to thin body and short in aftertaste. I was not too impressed with this one, lack of complexity and did not feel too good about the soapy flavor.
