On tap at Cole’s. On the dark side of centre for a saison. Nice head. Typical musty aroma begins with perhaps a little more fruitiness than some others. Spice, pepper and over-ripe fruit in the flavour. Dryish. Nice beer. Very drinkable.

(bottle, 75cl) Hazy, deep amber to brown colour with a slightly beige and thick foamy head. Moderately sweet yeasty caramel-malty aroma with fruity, piney and slightly zesty hoppy notes. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly toasty malty taste with spicy yeasty accents and most of all a cornucopia of fruity, piney and woody hoppy notes; almost dry, slightly toasty finish with a complex hops profile. Wonderful. 25.XIII.10

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of gum, sour apple (w/skin), wet autumn leaves, clove. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Interesting, but not really enjoyable. The tart apple note in the nose is a little unwelcome, but otherwise it’s pretty enjoyable. The sourness in the mouth comes off as if an infection in early stages, which goes along with the sour apple note in the nose. It’s not super strong, but it’s a bit unpleasant. Hard to say whether this aspect is "normal" (as with Fantome products), or not.

From February 2010 tasting with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel. My 750ml bottle via trade with Boutip. Poured cloudy orange with a large and lasting creamy off-white head. Dry yet lush aroma, unusual - huge orange juice citrus with a very strong funky/herbal bitter spiciness - fantastic, really, so complex and maddeningly difficult to pin down (9-). The taste was a bit of a let-down - not bad, just quite a bit simpler, and lighter, than the aroma - dry, fruity, just a hint of that funky bitterness, although thankfully not sweet at all. It felt a bit watery on the palate, with only mild carbonation and a quick, weakly citrus finish. Still lovely overall, but like many beers that smell grrrrrrrrrrrrreat, I’d like more "oomph."

Bottle at GBBF’10. Gold with a small white head. Curious, intriguing spicy aroma. Taste is sweet, candied grass, with herbs and wildflowers. Charming and very lovely.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Kuikka) Poured dark brown and hazy. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma was malty, fruity and spicy. Palate was medium bodid with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, fruitiness, Belgian yeas, hops, mildly saltiness, spiciness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Decent beer but I would not call this a saison.

Orangey-gold with a nice off-white head. Excellent american-esque dry hop nose. Light bodied orange juice and nice hop tones. An excellent hoppy Belgian.

Draught at Poechenellekelder in Brussels, Belgium. Faint aroma. Hazy copper body with yellow head and quite appropriately, nice, Brussels lace. Really nice saison with bretty aspect. Got lucky with this one as my ordering of it was blundered somewhat by language barrier

Sampled from the tap at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas; July 2010
The beer is a clear, brown-amber color that is topped by a fluffy, tan’ish colored head that leaves some nice lacing on the sides of the glass as it subsides. The aroma is fruity, berry like (specifically strawberry even) and also has notes of toasted malt, nutmeg and an orange-peel note that becomes quite apparent after some time. This is very aromatic smelling; complexly spicy, a nice fruitiness and enough malt character to round things out quite nicely. The spice notes (especially the orange-peel) really seem to get more and more dominant as the beer warms.

The beer tastes drier than the aroma suggested, but has some sweetness to it. This beer is light and quaffable feeling, especially when you consider the character that the beer has; there is a touch of viscosity here though as this certainly is not thin. The finish has flavors of toasted malt, caramelized malt sugars, biscuit like notes and some flavors that remind me of candi-sugar syrup. Berry-like flavors couple with a spice character, both of which are a touch more muted than they were in the nose. Flavors of nutmeg, bitter herbs, orange-peel, as well as some hop herbal notes and bitterness are noticeable. The balance of this beer is towards the spiciness (though this is complex enough to be subtle), but this is solidly backed by the fruit and malt / sugar character.

This ends up quite nicely balanced between all of its components; the dryness of the flavor is quite nice, especially considering the depth of flavor here. Quite tasty and eminently quaffable, both make for a great beer.

Bottle. Amber pour. Sweet malts, caramel, light fruit, somewhat earthy, and herbal hops. Too sweet for a saison.
