Bottle [750ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy orange-copper with an average size fizzy white head. Aroma: yes, this smells great! Flowery hops, citrus fruit, yeast, light spices and light malt backing it up -- lots of hops even! Flavour’s also nice, it’s hoppy and fruity along with yeast and spices and again, well backed by malt -- tasty and refreshing! Average bitter finish. Medium bodied. Wow, what a nice surprise this was -- I loved it!

750ml bottle from Bierkonig-amsterdam. Pour is hazy brown with a tallish white head. What is it with brown saisons these days - two in a row here in Holland. Not ugly, just unexpected. Nose is first some erathy, muddy yeast, then bubble gum, fresh flowers and a little hint of spices. Flavor is first slightly fruity/malty - tangerines, biscuit, with the slight pine and peppery basil hops showing lightly. Then, an interesting dose of herbs and spices - certainly the basil from the nose, but also a very ’chai tea’ thing going on (cardamom, cinnamon, anise, clove) - really interesting . Finish is quite dry with some bitterness and a slight earthy tartness. Never shows the ’classic’ saison funkiness, but has that ’certain something; that most well-crafted saisons share. High carbonation and a prickly mouthfeel. All in all, this reminded me of a Fantome-esque beer . Weird but good with some really unique stuff that seemed out of place at first but ended up working pretty well.

Bottle@Home. Toffee and spices aroma. Brown colour, off-white head, fair lace. Light sweet, bitter, laurel, toffee, mint, basil. Dry mouth feel. Interesting, well brewed, but not my cup of tea with all those spices.

Bottled. The aroma has flowery hops, yeast, some spice (juniper?), grapefruits. Hazy, copper/amber coloured with a lasting, off-white head. The taste is slightly bitter, has some sweetness, has grapefruits, spice, flowers. Bit sharp hoppiness overall. Well, bodied. Some carbonation. Nice beer.

Thanks to HogTownHarry for sharing. Appearance: Murky brown, small but lasting white head. Aroma: Sweet hops, banana, cream with some vanilla and lemon too, very nice. Flavour: Slight mango, hops, sweet up front but with a nice long dry malt finish.. nice hops mixed in the finish too. Good indeed.

In short: An crisp and sharp flowery and fruity Saison with a truly original character. Wow!
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed when 6 to 12 months of age.
The look: Cloudy dark golden body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention
In long: Nose of bubble gum, garden flowers and wild berries and wild yeast. Taste of unsweetened red liquorice hard-candies, grapefruits, red grapes, tangerines, toasted biscuits, herbal spices. A lot of flowery hops. Finish is a little dry, some flower juice, a light red grapes tartness/sourness, medium astringency and with only a mild bitterness. Overall very sharp. Not very wild or barnyard but still manages to have a Saison character. Lively carbonation and mouthfeel. There is something different about this beer that I cannot put into word other than to say that it is really original. Quality-wise this is almost to the level of their fantastic Saison IV, but this one is a lot less “standard”. This new brewery is simply amazing. And I have more of it, incredible, me, yes me, I have some good cense.
