Lost rate from last Xmas, and that chemists in Sluis. You know the one. Wasn’t sure it was an original recipe until Joris put it on. Anyway.....misty orange gold with a fine white head. Smooth and citrussy with some hop bitterness to finish. Touches of soap, honey, liquorice, late biscuity malts. Pepper and papery grain, too much booze. OK, but pretty bog standard stuff.

Medium high, white head over orangey-golden beer with a (cold) haze. Short, rather sharpish malt nose, caramel malts; bit of (fresh) carrots aroma. Generally speaking very low-key, little nose. Again sharp malts, but with a chemical streak. Solvent, spices, mannah, apothecary,... Safe for the CO², ending drier, every gulp gives a bit roasted flavour retronasal. Warming up, liquorice. Very carbonated MF, seems highly attenuated, more than usual for Van Steenberge. Not my kind of beer. I wonder whether it is Augustijn Grand Cru, but fermented out better than my last sample of that.
