draught at Dresden Frühjahrsmarkt 2013. Clear deep brown colour, beige head. Aroma of roasetd malts and caramel. Chocolatey, hints of caramel, roasetd malts, dark dried fruit. Smooth and very pleasant.

BlackHaddock (3605) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2012
Draught into a lovely tall vase shaped glass in the ‘DAB Bar’ on the same street as a Berlin Brewpub that is always closed when I try to get in. The beer looked a picture, dark brown, very dark in fact: a tan coloured creamy foam head sat on top throughout the tasting. Malty, chocolaty and roasted caramel molasses made up the smells. Those aroma giving malts also dominated the taste, with hints of coffee and toffee flavours now coming through along with the chocolate and caramel notes mentioned in the smells. Medium body for a schwarzbier, some I’ve found to be rather thin: this was one of the better ones for body depth and strength. It looked, good, it had a good smell and it tasted good too: one of the best schwarzbiers I’ve come across (this being my 15th review in that style).

pivnizub (8770) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JUN 9, 2010
Draught (anywhere in the Saxonian Switzerland): Literally black, smaller, lacy off-white head; relatively dry caramelly and coffeeish nose; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, distinctively light bodied; coffeeish and roast-malty dry finish. Drinkable, no too great......

MiP (13575) - Sřnderborg, DENMARK - APR 22, 2010
Draught as Jarosova/Jarosover Dunkel. Mild malty aroma, slightly buttery, but pleasant. Clear dark brown colour. Nice stable creamy tan head. The flavour is slightly sweet, nicely malty. Mild carbonation. Good.

heavy (2127) - Split, CROATIA - MAR 28, 2010
08/03 Draught at Zum Dampfschiffe, Köpenick. It poured dark brownish body with small head. Strong coffee malt aroma. Fine malty schwarzbier flavor, coffee, chocolate, some caramel and even yogurt. Bitterish mostly, but sweetness and sourness make it up, too. Medium bodied with nice long fine coffee finish. Has one of the best coffee malts I’ve ever encountered in a schwarzbier, but anyway its very tasty and full especially for the style. Yup, Doggythedog made a great find on those two!

Marko (3904) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - MAR 13, 2010
Draught at Zum Dampfshiff in Köpenick
Poured a quite dark red-brown, thick fluffy tan head. Sweetish, slightly coffeeish nose. Yoghurty, distinctly milk caramel-like. Light hop bitterness near the end. This is actually a quite good Czech dunkel, which, combined with the fact that noone’s rated it in 2 and a half years, makes this an even better catch!
