Wow. Stouts aren’t my favorite beer, but this beer is!
I got way too small a pull in retrospect, it came with an extremly fine and creamy head that gave a smooth mustache. The taste was well balanced with decent malts and a good background coffee taste. My only criticism wasin how long the flavor lingered (actually didn’t linger), but it was a truly exceptional beer. Definately worth a trip to Jasper.

Nitro, at brewpub. Deep brown/blackish colour, ruby highlights. Nice creamy tan cap, stands up well and lasts throughout the glass. Coffee, chocolate/cocoa powder nose. Flavour has chcolate malts, cocoa and roast malts. Dry finish with roasty bitterness. Good, drinkable nitro stout.

Draft 6 oz at the brewpub; Again another Jasper head that stood up forever ... almost 20 minutes ... tan and firm. Midnight black with a red tinge. Nice java aroma, followed up with a nice ashy, smoky, bitter coffee-tinged brew. Maybe a bit on the thin side, not quite hitting the milky stride it deserves, but quite quaffable. (#2891, 5/15/2007)

Cask@Jasper Brewery Brewpub, Jasper. Black beer with a strongly bubbly brown head. The aroma is gently roasted coffee, and the flavour is weakly bitter and roasted coffee. Overall an average stout, quite weakly flavoured.

Off of N2 at Fest-Of-Ale. Creamy off white head. Rich cold coffee nose. Despite the cold temp it was served at the flavors really come through. Actually reminds me of Guiness. OMG its a Guiness clone! Dark roasted malt notes with a hint of dark fruit. Would be much better on cask I think

Pint on tap at Jasper Brewing. Pour was almost black with nitro charged beige head that left some sloppy lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is roasted malts and coffee with some trace of hop bitterness in the finish. Body is slightly thin for a stout and carbonation is abundant. Overall, this is not a bad brew, just that there are much better stouts that I have tried.

served on a nitro tap.... the style is more suited for such a serving
Like the Liftline, the nitro take a little while to calm. Almost black, with some reddish highlights around the sides and bottom of the glass. A creamy, nitro head - khaki.
Roasted malts are predominant. Quite a grainy scent, almost burnt. Not too bad... almost wheaty?
Scent almost the same as the aroma. Deep roasted, very grainy. Some spent coffee flavours.
Suitably creamy... seems like it would be rather thin without, but that’s not the case on this serving, so no points lost there. Carbonation is light. Drinkability is alright, though perhaps not particularly intriguing. Flavour profile is okay, and finishes with a bit of a lingering taste. Worth a try, and the taste sticking around is nice - it could go with a bit more body and sweeter profile, imo.

On tap at Jasper Brewing Company. Poured a very deep iced tea brown with an extremely well-retained cap of caramel/beige head (20+ min). Nose was quite faint... with dark chocolate, coffee, and hazlenut in there. Flavor was of dark chocolate and lighter coffee.. moderate roast. The coffee provided more bitterness than flavor... also some herbal bitterness in there. Light-bodied yet creamy on the palate... moderate bitterness worked well... nice dry finish. Solid.
