Hey! Survived going up a mountain in snowshoes so it was time to sit back with some pints. Got me a glass of standard dark brown beer with a small tan head, ok skim retention and some thin but ropy lacing. The aroma was tough to locate fresh out of the keg. Dusty chocolate, slight fruit (the pomegranate does come out more after a lengthy sit) and some coffee. Overall it is an odd mix but nothing bad. The taste is odd, however. An obvious sour taste that is mixed (still prominent) with weak chocolate and light coffee. There is some noticable pomegranate on occasion but nothing that sticks out. This beer is quite tart and sour throughout with a background bitterness and dryness - one that is similar to tannins found in heavy red wines. The mouth feel is on the thin side while the beer is light to light medium bodied. The sourness and tartness never leaves. Has a sour / dry finish that doesn’t quite fit with what one would expect even with the addition of fruit. Still, it’s worth a shot if you can get there before it’s all gone.
