COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A slightly "bigger" brew, this ale has its exaggerated malt aroma and depth balanced by a firm dose of Boadicea hops. Boadice is a new variety of UK hops that are naturally aphid and mildew resistant, requiring the use of fewer pesticides. Feel good and drink well.

(Rating #1686)

Bottle shared at the BA gathering. Poured a flat mosty lifeless oange body with a tiny bit of fleeting bubbles rising up the side of my glass. Aroma is musty and dusty with notes of saw dust and an old basement. Thin to medium bodied with soft carbonation, and sadly the subpar palate is the best part abut this beer. The flavor is flat and boring with just a touch of some cereal and grains. Not sure why the descrition is bragging about Boadice hops because if this is a good example then they pretty much suck.

22oz bottle-pours a tan head with amber/copper color. Aroma is medium malt-bready, 2nd tea. Taste is slightly sweet medium malt-bready, 2nd tea/herbal hops. Easy.

In short: Decent english style hops in a thin toasted amber ale lacking malts. Kind of Bland but drinkable in large quantities.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear copper body with almost no head
In long: A nose of leafy hops (dry tree leaves). The body is very thin and the beer is very low on malts. Toasted croutons, wood bark, tree leaves. English style hops. Rather crisp. Medium carbonation. This is easy to drink but it is very simple. Nothing memorable here, this is just Another Ale.

A golden orange ale with a thin white head. A very herbaceous hoppy aroma, restrained. In mouth, an herbaceous hop and crisp malt, very British, but again, some signs of infection. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Inbièrenationale IV, May 2007.

Cloudy amber beer with a creamy white head. Aroma is nice and sweet. Caramelly and toffeeish with a light nutty character. Earthy UK-type hopping. Woody and earthy with a light orangey fruitiness on the back. Lingering spicy bitterness. Great balance and quite tasty. More of a bitter than anything else.

My Bottom Line:
Earthy, leafy hops proliferate within the caramel and toasted malts to build a highly quaffable and fresh brew.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam dwindles into the cloudy amber red.
-This does not adhere to any style guidelines that I know of. It’s just crispy and fresh throughout and nicely rendered.
-Carbonation is quite effervescent.
-A mineral touch seems to accompany this new hop variety.

On tap at the brewpub.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2008 Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a ring of white lace. Nice aroma of hops, fruits, pepper and caramel. Good flavor of hops, fruits and caramel malt. The body is light and oily while the carbonation is moderate.
