COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for the former Innkeeper and Dentist who owned the Inn at the time of the great fire and proceeded to rebuild. We salute his Yankee gumption with this hearty amber brew, laced with Belgian crystal malt and smartly hopped with Norwich Inn hops.

On tap at the brewpub: Clear amber color with a thin head, light malts in the aroma, light bitter start with a touch of butter, not much carbonation, ends sweet.

My Bottom Line:
Dark fruit and roasted nuts are ably balanced out by earthy and leafy hoppiness in this able-bodied quencher.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the hazy reddish brown.
-Plantane bread subtleties rise in the nose upon warming.
-The head dies rather quickly in the glass.
-The fruitiness is raisiny and sometimes appears as cherries.
-The hops do contribute some calculated bitterness.
-I’m not sure this follows any style really; Brown Ale? Red Ale? Imperial Mild?

On tap at the brewpub.

Pours copper with a thin tan head. Smells of fresh hops, and sweet malt. Tastes hoppy with a nice amount of bitterness balanced against a raisony finish.

Tap at the brewpub. Copper coloured. Woody/spicy hop aroma. Fresh dry-hopped resinousness. Very dry flavour. Good balance. Lingering hoppy resiny flavour. Nicely balanced. Very similar to the Pig Red but with the hop flavour bumped up a notch. Fairly fruity as well, with nice sweet cherry/berry flavour.
