CapFlu (3242), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Apr 18, 2006 (22oz bottle) Pours a huge almond-coloured head with an opaque body. Nose has hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Full malted flavour with a burnt caramel and sugar, figs and seeds. Mildly iodine in the finish - expressing the high alcohol. Very good. mkobes (2007), New York, USA Apr 12, 2005 Bottle out of brewers private stock. Brown in color with a nice clear tan head. Raisiny, fig like aroma. Nice and fruity flavor. Rich tasting. Well balanced. Fruity. Drinkable and nice. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Apr 10, 2005 Bottle out of Tim’s private stock, literally. Brown, clear, tan head. Fruity aroma, raisins, figs, some malt. Bold malty flavors, rich and fruity. Real nice ale. muzzlehatch (4422), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jan 20, 2004 On tap at the brewpub. I would've said this is more like an English strong (little hoppiness, woody-sweet character) but whatever. The important thing is the quality of the beer. Extremely dark molasses brown, nearly opaque, no head and very still. Big malty-sweet nose with hints of blueberries; it was served too cold so the nose was impeded for much of my sample. Very nice fruitiness throughout, very drinkable and pleasant, almost no carbonation, just a hint of bitterness at the end. Very nice, I just wish they had more offerings tonight. Volgon (2458), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Dec 21, 2003 Updated: Jan 11, 2004On tap at the brewpub. Orange/brown color, spicy sweet citrus (orange) aroma, ends sweet in a caramel sort of way with a long aftertaste. Full bodied and very nice, even though the 7% was noticeable.
