3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 25, 2007
UPDATED: MAY 20, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Tepid toasted malt and its subtly baccate caramel brethren lead to a leafy supporting hop bitterness. This is another well-malted Jasper Murdock ale, yet is does not shine in the brewery’s lineup.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam lingers atop the copper-tinged burgundy.
-An earthen dryness seems to be concealing a mineral character.
-Carbonation is active and a little frothy at first.
-This remains a relatively well-done version of a boring style, but it is not interesting enough for me to have more than a pint.
From the bottle and on tap at the brewpub .

Draft at the brewpub - Poured a dark ruby red in color with almost no head and little other carbonation. Aroma was mild of malt and distinct of noble hops. Flavor was a little off balance to the hop bitter side, but who’s complaining. The finish was long and quite bitter. Very nice...
