For an amber ale good blended beer. Refreshes the palate on a hot day. Amber body with off white head. Would of had a full pint if not for a long drive home ahead of the wife and I. pinkzambia (989), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 20, 2007 Tap @ brewpub:.Clear light amber with a little off-white head. There is a sweet brown sugar aroma. But the problem is that is way too sweer for an amber ale. GlenVargas (120), El Paso, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2007 Updated: Aug 13, 2007The Cactus Jack is light amber, tending even more toward red, with a quickly dissipating white head. There’s an almost caramely sweetness, a little spice, and only slight hoppiness. It’s a lot lighter than the Chihuahua Brown Ale, but still not a bad little beer. The batch at the Airway location was way better than the one at Remcon. tomciccateri (514), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2006 On draught at the brewpub. Listed as 4.5%. Amber in color with a mild malty sweetness and even dry/sweet flavor balance. Very "Dos Equis-like". A nice rendition. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 29, 2005 Copper body that didn’t seem amber at all and a dusty white head. Sweet crystal malt aroma with moderate diacetyl. Flavor is medium sweet with lots of iced tea flavor and a bland finish. My notion of an amber would have some darker malt character and more spicy hop presence. This has little of either. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark

Hazy amber body, fine off-white head. Rather weak aroma of sweet malt and toffee. Spices, malt and hops in the flavor, flower and caramel notes also. Nice but quite thin. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 16, 2004 Hazy orange in color with an eggshell head. Sweet, slightly adjunct aroma. Not a bad beer, a bit overhopped though, I expect some more maltiness in a beer that calls itself an amber.
